It is that easy. ;)
But before modding I have to get it to work...
After the bethesda logo the game simply goes black and i can only hear a waterfall and ambient music....
Take your time and look around. Your view may be facing the wrong way. Recheck your heading etc. Restart try again. Be patient.
Now as for modding, it`s not as easy as just `modding the crap` out of it. It`s gonna take time and patience, m8. Here are some pointers...
1. Get SKSEVR and install per instructions into your game. Essential for VR Skyrim.
2. Download and install a Mod Manager from the Nexus site. Vortex is quite good.
3. Point Vortex to your Skyrim game and where you want all your mods to be saved.
4. Start checking out the Nexus for interesting Mods.
5. Start with a few mods. If you go crazy I guarantee you`ll break your game.
6. READ the READMES and notes. Check waht`s compatible with what. Some mods will not work with each other. Some mods won`t work with VR. Most SE mods are generally ok though.
7. The more amazing they sound the more you should check.
8. Use common sense. Don`t use mods you don`t really need.
Good luck.
I figured the black screen.
Had to reinstall and delete all old files...
Following your instructions- do i have to pay to get the vortex mod manager?
Installing vortex now.
But i have to admit:
booted the game up for some first steps and put all vanilla game settings on max. and it didnt look THAT bad. After all the negative reviews on steam i thought it would be horrible
Yes, I did thank you.
Could someone explain what SKSEVR is and why I do have to install it?
1. done
2. done
3. done
Just started it up via the new exe and it worked no problem- and with skyuivr which is already an improvement over the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ vanilla menu :D
any advices in terms of mods that just make the game lil bit more pretty without nuking it?
Good stuff. Well I don`t have many visual mods...
1.Realistic water 2 which makes water look better in VR and also adds waves to coasts.
2. Obsidein Weathers. and True Storms special edition.
3. Sexy statues of Skyrm which for me makes statues look like something from the ancient Greek times (but it does have nudity so be aware if that bothers you).
4. Immersive armors.
That`s it for `pretty` mods. I used this long and detailed guide to help me pick what i like. Check it for yourself.

Word of warning: Do not use Diverse Dragons. It breaks VR games, but it don`t happen until you`re level 9 onwards. It`s like a trap!
Thanks a lot mate!
Really appreciate your help!
I installed:
- Realistic Water 2
- Immersive armors
In general: are all mods for the special edition working with VR version?
No. Not all of them. Well they will work, but some weren`t created with VR in mind. Only way is to check the Readmes if in doubt or see what people say in the Mod`s comment section.
I am klicking through tons of mods :D
Should stop now-
thanks again for your help!
One last question:
Should i install the unofficial patch for the game?
Sounds usefull
The unofficial patch creators say they haven`t made it for Vr and they won`t so it`s at your own risk. However, I have it (I mistakenly installed without reading the Readmes!) and it doesn`t appear to have done anything bad to my game. So I think it`s good.
