You can use portable quest headsets on PC's however the wires if you don't already own them can start at price of $100 for a single wire, just for the fibre optic cable wire. I don't own any quests however so can't tell first hand the benefits of a Quest2 vs etc
Edit, also playing it vanilla
Ah amazing thanks!!
You know this comment train is for a VR game ya? And wireless VR headsets are a lot more comfortable to use and you are not sitting on your butt. Instead standing and moving around in a limited zone.
That said. I'm playing Fallout VR with Mods (get FRIK from nexusmods at a minimum) via Quest 3 and the Steam link app on the Quest 3 (so wireless). No issues outside the normal Bethesda crashy game code. With 5Ghz wifi. 2.4Ghz and it would drop connection from time to time.
Others have noted Virtual Desktop (paid) and there is also the Meta Quest Link feature. I've used all three and since Steams Link app came out that's been the most stable for me.
You sound like an ev owner.....as long as youre happy everybody else must be stupid for not being happy with the way YOU like things. Ive played vr since the dk1.....then a vive ....then the greatest vr invention ever made .....the tpcast......and now i have both a vive pro and htc wirless adapter and a quest 3 .....id rather not play vr if its got to be tethered......with the exception of some games like tower defense and vr strategy games like aliens dark decent......i like to move especially in first person shooters and physically turn....its part of the imersion of vr. Having to deal with managing that cable is a F(K)NG HASSLE and imersion breaking. On the subject of the battery.....if using a quest 2 or 3 theres no excuse to run out of battery...if using a tiny 10000mah battery youll get 5-6 hours before the quest dies assuming the quest was fully charged at start of session.....once the external battery dies you can hot swap a new one without taking the headset off ....i use a 20000mah battery and have played for 6 hours straight and still had 30% on the pack and the quest was at 100%......if you wanna sit on your ah(zz) and play.....thats your preference....many of us like to physically move around while playing
They aren't just wires. They are entirely pre-constructed fiber optic cables. These cost a lot to make. They aren't just wire.
I am also a Oculus Rift owner and damn, being wireless is just a game-changer. No sensors, not a single damn cable that "touches" you while gaming nor constrict your movements at all.
Nobody who have actually experienced the feeling to be wired and then wireless can say "it doesn't change the experience" rofl.
You need an application from the Quest store called Virtual Desktop and a PC that meets the minimum requirements for this game
This is just about how much battery power Wifi uses vs. being wired, right?
Cause I read that first sentence and thought "Do they think 5ghz wifi is going to give them brain cancer? They're right, but at least that's 15-20 years from now."
