Is It THAT Bad?
If I like Skyrim VR, will I like this? Just want to enjoy the vanilla version, no modding.

Hard to say, for some people the performance is a deal breaker, for some the locomotion is a deal-breaker (I think there's smoothing patch for the vertical stutter), Some people protest the vestiges of the flat version, like menu-driven body looting. For some it's amazing ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/611660/discussions/0/1621724915767048537/ ).

Remember you have a 2 hour return window, so my advice is buy it, start a game on easy and rush out of the vault up to the surface, where you will get a good idea of the performance you can expect. It won't run as well as skyrim.

it's "fine" in vanilla, if you're happy to play that way.

I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Basicly take what little good they did for skyrim vr and toss it out the window, that is what you get with fallout vr. the DLC doesnt even defaulty come with it you have to mod your way to make it work.

Then, no, definitely not.

It's absolutely fine, it does not require the silly amount of mods you see online on some forums, it does require some however drag and drop with Vortex and it is stunning in VR.

Runs like poop for me, always has. Skyrim VR with graphic enhancing mods and the whole 9 ran like butter. :SkullNBones:

For a newb, what to do to make it stunning in VR as you say? I'm starting from standard vanilla install, no mods tried yet.

I second this. I think it's funny to see a list of hundreds of mods promoted as "essential," when some are absurdly trivial.

Imho the default VR version of Fallout is way worse than the default SkyrimVR version. The SkyrimVR version isn't even that great, but at least it had some work on it and all DLCs included.

The Fallout4VR version was shoddily done and they couldn't even bother to add the DLCS (you have to do it with mods).

However, if you're willing to mod Fallout4VR a bit then it is as good as the Skyrim version easily.

You need to mod it to make it worthwhile, atleast in my opinion. I spent a good 5 hours today downloading a wabbajack modlist so i could play it

I've played through the main campaign twice in vanilla, had a blast. The only real frustration for me was a random glitch in building mode that crashes my game.

Yep. I keep going back to Fallout 4 VR after half a year away, and do not use whatever crutch I used on my previous playthroughs (VATS, power armor, fast travel, stealth/sniping, etc). It forces new strategies to survive. That one time my first legendary gun was the Junkie's 10mm got me way outside my norms.
