is it Worth it (even on sale?)
So I been kinda eye balling the idea of buying this... I have heard some nightmare stories about it and have sat on the bench... I really enjoy the fallout series played em all and was curious if this is worth it at all even if its on sale?
i see mods are mostly needed to make it playable
if so which ones are a must to make the game enjoyable?

I say buy it and first thing is find what controls work best for you. The ones that come pre loaded are a nightmare(for index controllers anyway). After you get that working it will blow you away. Keep in mind that when you are in the bunker at the start the graphics are choppy but when you get into the open world that goes away. It is always choppy in bunkers or the institute(for me anyway).

I don't think so. Still the most played game in my library of hundreds.

"huh im working with a Oculus Rift S..."

Where should I have found out this info before sending my reply?

an unreserved yes. I reached 110 hours of playtime today. I am on my second playthrough with mods, including Sim Settlements 2 and Tales of the Commonwealth.

This is definitely worth it once you go through the effort of applying the right tweaks.

Minimal Modlist:

-Fallout4 VR Configuration Tool

-Insignificant Object Remover

-Full Dialog VR

-Vivid Fallout All in One- Best Choice

-More Accurate Weapons

-VR Handmade Reflex Sights

-FAR- Faraway Area Reform- Default Resolution

-DLCVR Fallout VR and DLC standalone bug fixes

-Automatron VR fix

-Autosave Manager

-VR LOD Workaround

-Start Me up - Basic Version (not needed)

-Lucid Institute - Performance Optimization - VR Compatible

-Achievements enabler

-High FPS Physics Fix VR

-True Storms Wasteland Edition v1.4

-(DLC all installed)

Extensive Modlistt: (add these plus those in the previous list, recommended for second playthrough, currently using them):

-Better The Third Rail

-Steyr AUG A1 (weapons mod)

-Better Companions - No Conflicts

-Heather Casdin - A Unique Companion Experience by llamaRCA

-Ellen - the cartographer

-Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Enhancer -CBBE-

-Sim Settlements 2 (requires Workshop Framework), HUDFramework can be left out as the special HUD for SS doesn't work in VR anyway and just shows constant error messages

-Armorsmith Extended

-Settler and Companion Dialogue Overhaul

-Atomic Radio

-Tales from the Commonwealth

-Settlers of the Commonwealth

-Outcasts and Remnants (NOTE: This one conflicts with Lucid Institute causing the entire inner area to go very dark as if there's a blackout. Unfortunately the other big quest mods from Thuggysmurf depend on this one so you may wish to consider deactivating Lucid Institute while using it in this area)

-Project Valkyrie

-Fusion City Rising - Quest Mod Plus

-Hookers of the Commonwealth (HotC) x

-Welcome to Goodneighbor (had to load a previous version but worked finally)

-Better Goodneighbor

-Backpacks of the Commonwealth

-Durable Vertibirds

-WM Chinese Assault Rifle Standalone

-Wasteland Melody's Chinese Assault Rifle VR position fix

-Service Rifle (good but seems to spawn the postman underneath the ground in its mini-quest)

-We are the Minutemen

-Pack Attack NPC Edition

-M1 Garand

-Diamond City Expansion (now works, issue was that the header version number in FO4Edit was 1.0, after changing it to 0.95, the clipping problems stopped and the new Diamond City loaded correctly)

-Bozar

-BullpupBozar tweaks

-PreWar Binoculars

-DefenseGun V1.1

-10mm SMG

-IMI Galil

-IMI Galil -GALIL - Leveled List Patch

-Minuteman Takeover - Nuka World

-The M9 Standalone Postol M9 V1.0

-The M9 Leveled Lists

-The M14 V1.0

-Armor and Weapon Keywods Community Resource (required for several gun mods) [/quote]

Honestly, what else are you gonna play in VR? Alyx only goes so far. Elite Dangerous is cool, but that's about it. Everything else is like 3 to 6 hours TOPS before you get super bored.

This is what I was thinking, if this is supposedly so bad then what should I play instead? I've been on the fence for 2 years on this one due to the negativity. I'm awful with mods but I think I'll get it now.

Instead of that, get it, don't mod it yet, set it on easy, run around and have a look during Steam's 2-hour return window, form your own opinion.

100%, but only if modded.

1) Buy Fallout 4 VR + Fallout 4 + all Fallout 4 official DLC except for HD texture pack and creative club.

2) Get wabbajack from www.wabbajack.org. Launch it, choose Fallout VR and "Essentials Overhaul" should pop up. Click install and the guide will pop up. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE GUIDE AND FOLLOW IT TO A *T*.

3) Go to http://Nexusmods.com and buy 1 month of premium membership ($7), this will allow Wabbajack to use the API to automatically download and properly install the entire 200+ mod modlist.

4) Optional: install this mod to re-enable Steam achievements (by default disabled when the game is modded): https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/28556

Congrats, you are now ready to enjoy one of the very best VR experiences.
