When you run exe, it will integrate the input emulator into steamVR.

Start steamVR, put on headset.
In SteamVR press "=" on left controller and you can see VR input emulator. Press it.


Create a profile and select the controller(s), go to analog remapping page of the joystick axis (Axis0) and enable "Button Press Deadzone Fix".
Also set touchpad emulation on "position based" and save.
(if you check it again, it should be visible as enabled, i needed a couple tries, and yes it really works! )

With this you are able to interact with the world and loot containers much easier. Fallout4 VR is playable for Rift users! I could even throw stuff around and easily pick up stimpacks!

If you also want to grip button remapping, remap grip to Axis0 and remap Button _A to Grip for each controller. (havent tried this yet)

Just so ppl understand, this is a first attempt at a plugin fix by the author who created OpenVR Advanced settings.

It's only an initial attempt and not yet fully fixed. But it's a good sign :)

can you remap, so turn L-R is and forward-back is on the right stick?

Used to this setup wen flying FPV drone and its kind of ingrained

So fantastic that there is work being done for this. Im still holding off buying this until there is full oculus control fixes. If Bethesda did this themselves, they could easily double there sales.
I have played on the Vive (3.5hrs) and the Rift (3 hrs).
Currently the only advantage of the Rift is that the graphics look a bit better. (but we knew that anyway from other games)
Both versions are playable and are very immersive. Obviously the Vive version is much easier to control.


Currently, without the fix the only problem is navigating the PIP boy as you can not always scroll through all menus and items. Hopefully this will fix it.
If you are having problems with the sticks EG picking up stimpacks and other objects, Just move the stick slightly of centre and then press it.
Also
In the hacking screen and use one stick to move part way, then the other to continue to get the full range of movement.

I have tested this fix for about 30 mins, It works,
In a menu with lots of items, you will still have to alternate sticks as you can not seem to go all the way with one. IE go up 5 item,s with the left stick, the next 5 with right, tyhe next with left ETC


FO4VR is fantastic on the Vive, and there is no reason not to play it on the Rift, as it is still a great experience. My 'testing' has given me very high hopes for Skyrim for all VR users which ever HMD that you have.

The "Button Press Deadzone Fix" works really nice sounds not a big deal but when u play u can grab all thing and the favewheel come up now constant looting is faster more comfort now..

Seems the game has a file called Fallout4VrCustom.ini... shouldnt the Rift problems be fixable just changing these settings a bit?

I would really like Bethesda fixing the controls, but to be honest i dont see them doing this. The fact that fallout4 vr also bundled with a vive makes me worry this wont happen for some time. The answer will be the modders.
The fix matzman666 came so fast and is pretty effective, i have very high hopes all control problems will be solved. For now falllout looks really playable with my short time with the fix.

Yeah im really enthousiastic about this fix. Its a big deal! Im sure there probally some things that still need fixing but this makes the game playable for the rift users.

Thanks for the info! Deadzone fix works very nicely, snap not quite there yet (though i might just be imagining a slight improvement). Awesome that someone's working on this! Have a vive and rift, and strangely prefer playing this game on rift...

Yeah I was trying to use that setting and the menus were still very hard to navigate through because of the snap back.

Great concept, but it isn't working at all for me. Analog stick still bounces around like a Jack Russel Terrier on crack.

I tried this fix, works pretty well. The menus are still a problem as Devil mentioned. Pretty sure someone will find a solution. I might try out some different settings and such this weekend.
