Swimming Bug

Hey guys,

got a weird bug after some exploration underwater with even more weird swim controls!

So when I got out of the water my character still makes the swimming sound and I cannot jump or shoot with my weapon.

Anybody else got that bug and has a workaround to fix it?

How do you swim underwater? I could not dive under in the quarry to fix the pipes.

There is a small Info Box when you first fall into water.

So basically you have to do as follow:

1) Stick your head under water. (In RL you have to crouch)
2) Press the two shoot buttons on your motion controllers
3) While you do so, do some "swimming" motion. Make sure no one can see into your room (windows)

Same problem here, got stuck under the water trying to fix the pipes... had to fast travel out of there, could not move or jump in any direction... now I'm making the sloshing water sound wherever I go and have basically the same problem as the OP. Only way out is to reload from a save before I went in the water.

Not sure if this is an issue with the VR version or Fallout 4 generally, but it has cost me about an hour's worth of game time...

This may be related to a similar bug I've been running into. My character regularly gets stuck in conversation mode (have to walk quite a ways away to break it), or in stealth mode, which requires I activate comfort sneak, use it, unuse it, save, load, then turn off comfort sneak. How to correct your character getting stuck in swim mode I'm...unsure. Resubmerge and come out to see if it corrects itself, or try saving while in the water, load, then come out.

Awwww thanks for the reply. Really hoped it was just me with that bug :-/
Resub and swim again does not fix it.

Now we probably need a fix from Bethesda to do underwater quests.

You press the side grip to dive and use "arm" gestures/movements to swim (like exaggerated swimming)

Got a fix if you have the same bug as me.

When you got out of water and still have the swim sound.

1) Make a new save
2) Close Fallout 4 VR
3) Get in game again and load. Water sound still here.
4) Jump and Shoot at same time. Water sound and animation will be gone. At least that worked for me :-)

I loaded up my old save and tried this, didn't seem to work at first... I had the tyre iron equipped, so I switched to the 10mm pistol, squeezed off a round and suddenly everything was back to normal! So pleased that I can continue from where I left off. Can't say for certain what freed it up, but if I get into/out of that predicament again I will post here again with any new info.

I was swimming when I pressed both side controllers at eh same time. I sank to teh bottom but didnt drown. I copuldnt move and button presses did nothing so I had to load a previous save

Same bug here D; I just find enemy and press 2 grips and bug is gone. But this bug still need official fix! And ofc scopes :D.

if you get the swimming out of water bug jus select a weapon you have to be on the ground and you will get back to ground mode.

My problem get to the ground I don't know how to get out of the water when there is no ramp.

It's a real pain this one as you need to be able to swim and get out to get a certain melee weopon. Hopefully the imminent patch will fix this.
