Oculus and OpenVR Input Emulator 1.3
I read a tutorial over at pcgamesn.com/fallout-4-vr-oculus-rift-fix stating the games works on Oculus with OpenVR Input Emulator. I followed the instructions but I am not having much luck. I'm not sure if there is an issue with the new patch from Steam. I'm hoping someone has had some luck getting this to work. The instructions were simple so I doubt I did anything wrong, but here is what I did.

Installed Fallout 4 VR
Installed OpenVR Input Emulator Version 1.3
Opened Steam VR and accessed OpenVR Input Emulator
Selected the left controller
Selected Input Remapping
Scrolled down to Analog Input Settings
Joystick Touchpad Emulation set to position based
checked Button press deadzone fix
In digital input settings I checked long press and set toggle touchpad emulation

repeated this for the right controller (saving both times) and started the game.

I could not access the menus, seems like the emulation is not working at all. This may be even worse than no emulation at all, I'm not 100% sure since I have never played without the emulation. In non menu parts of the game it works fine.

Anyone had any luck?

You no longer have to install the input emulator. It's not part of Steam VR as a beta. Go to Steam VR properties and opt in to the input emulator beta.

No I don't think that's right - the point of that SteamVR input emulator beta was to allow us to use OpenEmulator 1.2 without it crashing.

OpenEmulator 1.3 no longer requires the SteamVR input emulator beta, so you can use the standard SteamVR (or recent beta) with it.

I've used 1.3 and it works (except you can no longer remap trigger/grips).

Try getting rid of this step:
In digital input settings I checked long press and set toggle touchpad emulation

to get it working without trying to be able to toggle it on/off first. I believe you should be setting that up on a different button anyway.

You also need to change/add an entry in the [VRWand] section of 'Fallout4VrCustom.ini' to fix the menu navigation:

fMinPulsesForFullSwipe=1
fMaxPulsesForFullSwipe=1

Thanks profanicus that resolved it for me. I only had a few minutes to test but the menus worked well for the few minutes I tried. This makes the game 1000% better.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ refund the Game. You should not buy it on Oculus at all.

And if Bethesda blames the VR-Market for they bad sells, even better for us. Because they released only garbage as VR-Games.

Profanicus, Played about an hour and can confirm this resolved the issues for me, thanks again.

The previous version worked perfectly for me, but this new version is having a problem. The right click is not working anymore, or at least it's working the same as when I don't have the button deadzone fix activated. Has anyone else noticed this with 1.3? I tried it in both the current SteamVR beta and the main branch. I'm thinking of trying it out on the openvr branch, but that's going away before too long so even if it works it's not a permanent fix.

Excellent, happy it's all working for you. :)

I didn't test 1.3 heaps, but right click is working for me. Not sure if it's the same as it was before, because I previously had it mapped to the grip buttons - which no longer can be done unfortunately. :(

That's weird. I can't think what I could be missing. All the other controls seems as responsive as with the earlier versions of OpenVR, just not that one (naturally the one I probably use most). Sigh...and it was going so well until now.

Is OpenEmulator created by Steam?

After messing around a bit more I have the right click sort of working. It seems like I just need to hold it in for a second or two and then release the button and it'll grab or activate or whatever I need it to do. Definitely not as easy or natural as the previous way it worked, but better than nothing I guess.

No but SteamVR is apparently going to include similar functionality in the future, to allow you to rebind VR controllers.

Any new features in 1.3?

1.3 was basically to make it work again with the new SteamVR builds.

I think there are actually less features now, since rebinding of triggers/grips doesn't work. Apparently that's not possible with the new method that needed to be used to get it working.

OK maybe I am just stupid. This is not working for me at all. I have been playing the game fine using the input emulator but with the latest "upgrade" I cannot get anything to work. I followed the above website to the best of my understanding but I still get no window whatsoever when I click the VR input emulator. It simply goes to a blank screen.

Please help me and if you don't mind spell it out like I have no idea what you mean..lol

I really do appreciate any help as I love the game and not being able to continue is driving me crazy
