Almost perfect realistic lighting with no FPS loss (maybe slight gain) MODS inside
I just wanted to share with everyone the lighting mods I am running now because I have it to where Its darn near perfect. Colors are not over saturated, bloom is not bling blinging all over the place and the contrast and darkness are almost perfect.

Its all subjective but I'll list all the mods I am using here. Note that this is also the order I have them in my plugins.txt file. And it works flawlessly for me.

1) DARKER NIGHTS MOD https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/191/?tab=description
Installation per the link. But I think I chose the 1-darker esp. Though might be 2-dark. This will make night time much darker (depending on which esp you use) and creates very believable night-day cycles. Also affects interiors to some extent as well.

2) INTERIORS ENHANCED MOD https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8768/
Installation is simple, if you are without the DLCs make sure to get 2.0 VANILLA! Otherwise easy to install. This tones down the ambient fog in the interiors which give a washed out and greyed out look to deep corners inside. Works perfectly with Darker Nights.

3) FR4NSSONS LIGHT TWEAKS MOD https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2139/
Make sure to get the "Fr4nsson's Light Tweaks V1.6 plus Bloom Remover" version and install THAT one. This will really even out the tones in the game giving like a mid range that seems to be missing. And with bloom remover you get rid of that awful bloom glow around all the lights. It makes things so much more realistic without it.

4) FO4 ENHANCED COLOR https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5060?tab=description
Download and install F4ECC - 1.2. I tried all of them and the best one is this one. The thing is FR4NSSONS will tone down the saturation and then the darker version of enhanced color is way too dark with all the other mods here on top of it. To note this mod HAS NO ESP. Just drop the textures folder into the data folder, and it drops in 48 files.

If you hate fallout's cheesy light try this setup. In my opinion it starts to approximate the lighting from GTA V. And the best part is that there is no FPS loss. In fact by getting rid of bloom you might even save a few FPS. And the game looks stunning without bloom. I don't think Bethesda used bloom right in the original.

I'd really recommend giving this a go. I would not bother to post unless it really looked pretty amazing. I had been really off put by the way the lighting looked so bad in the original fallout 4. This fixes quite a bit of that. I am interested if this helps anyone else out.

Cheers

we should merge them into one "ENB like without ENB" thread ;)

Well its a little different. I just worked on the lighting by itself. And so far the 4 mods I have there have it nailed for me. The color correction mod was great, but by itself it had too much saturation or too little if I used the gloomy version.

So thats why I added Fr4ssons mod to tone back down the saturation and tbh I think Fr4ssons is the most impactful of the mods on my list.

I'd prefer not merge threads because I feel pretty strongly that these four are a good result. I'm not saying that there are not countless other ways to do the same thing but as hard as it is to sort through the plethora of mods I wanted to share a combination that does work.

I feel I have the lighting nailed down...to the point I'd be afraid to tweak it anymore. I am curious if anyone else sees the same thing.

Looks good. Will try it. Do you have any recommendations regarding load order?

Nice list! Another mod to perhaps consider is 'Pip-Boy Flashlight' https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10840

It makes the light from the pip-boy and power armour more like a normal torch (directional rather than diffuse) and has a bunch of customisation to choose from (light style and intensity). But the best part is that the light can (optionally) cast shadows which makes things look soooo much nicer. Even with dynamic shadow casting it doesn't seem to hurt FPS too much.

Thread necro: using these and the ini tweak makes VR lighting substantially more consistent, ignoring any changes it may make to realism; this alone improves the immersion substantially.
