Constant crashes (back to SteamVR Home)
Does anyone know how to deal with those random but constant crashes or what causes these crashes?

Sometimes I can play for about an hour or even longer. Sometimes I can just play for a couple of minutes. Then the game crashes and I am back at Steam VR Home.
So there is no freezing involved here. While playing suddenly the loading screen for Steam VR Home appears and then I am back at Steam VR Home (almost the same procedure like I had quit the game on purpose).

This is with Samsung's Odyssey WMR headset and it still happens with the new patch!

I have just updated to the new beta version in hopes to finally try out some scopes, it seems now that almost every time i try to use a scope, the game will crash back out to my home screen with no explaination.

I got 3 crashes in a row in the same place while using a sniper rifle, tried again with my pistol and had no issues. Now almost every time i switch to use a scope i get hit with a crash. Having to quicksave before i use my scoped weapon is annoying.

Well they implemented scopes at least, they never said they worked...

getting lots of CTD's while in the Workshop at various settlements, logs indicate:

Sat Feb 03 2018 19:25:39.200 - Application submitted two left scene textures for a single frame!
Sat Feb 03 2018 19:25:39.200 - Application submitted two right scene textures for a single frame!

The only thing coorelating (timestampwise) when this happens is:

There are 2 entries in the event logs, I guess for "LEFT" and "RIGHT"

I just updated my drivers to the newest version (390.77) and reinstalled the game including the Beta-Patch. Since then I already played a couple hours (I didn't start a new game. I just used my old savegame) and the game hasn't crashed a single time since then.

I get them too, on a vive with no mods. Just had a new one at a crafting station the instant I clicked on roasted mirelurk. I had just made some 2 minutes earlier at the same station. I'll try the event log next time and see if it's the "two frames" bug. I'll update my nvidia driver in case that's it, I'm still using the one from launch day in December, but the newer ones don't claim to address FO4VR.

Specific information is best with computers. Maybe try opening your windows menu and typing "event" and open the event viewer. Wait for it to load the log files if this is the first time and look under "Windows Logs" at both "application and system logs for the exact time of the crash. It should give you a good idea if it was the app[lication that crashed or a system fault like memory or disk or whatever and what caused it. I suggest looking up the error code using Google or microsoft's site to get a better understanding of your issue. Good luck.[/quote]

Another crash, while trying to drop canned dog food. Nothing under event viewer. latest nvidia driver.

I used to get frequent crashes and the solution was stupidly simple at least for me. Make sure your windows is up to date. I had been delaying an update for ages because it kept causing issues but after I bit the bullet and just updated it fixed the crashes

Just had another crash. So newest drivers plus reinstalling the game did not solve the problem!

Thank you for that reply. I haven't applied the windows fall creators update yet. Does it no longer cause a performance hit?

Same thing happend to me removing 23 screwdrivers from a tool box at the sanctuary. have had the scope crash just once.

PS thanks for the steam setting tips on supersampeling and repro realy helped me out ranXerox.

Just got one pulling the trigger to consume antibiotics :-(

Nvidia drivers 391.01 seemed to have fixed it... or I'm having a lucky streak.

I was having lots of crashes. Going to nvidia control panel> physx> changed auto to gpu, made a huge difference in frequency of crashes for me. I still get some but not hourly or less like I was.

It was a fluke. Got two crashes the day after that post. One crash was for taking antibiotics, other was crafting something at a cooking station. Now testing windows 10 1709. No noticeable change in gfx performance (gtx 970) between 1703 and 1709, though was able to walk into diamond city and drop a bunch of gear without a crash. Was not able to before with 1703.
