Nothing like that for me, i get the initial Steam Home loading screen then i end up back in the Steam Home envoirenment.
Tried launching from my Oculus home and i immediatly get an error message telling me the application failed to launch.
Really frustrating as i have been playing Fallout VR for ages on my Rift with no problems until this update :(
Initially upon install, yes. I've tried reverting back to the other just to see if it helped with 1st launch. I've also tried enabling/disabling the "Public Test Chanel" in Oculus and the "Rift Core 2.0 Beta". And disabling it back to the origional. I can't get it to launch in any combination:
1) FO4 - Non-Beta / PUblic Test Chanel Off (Rift COre 1)
2) FO4 - Beta / Public Test Channel off (Rift Core 1)
3) FO4 - Non-Beta / Public Test Channel on (Rift Core 2)
4) FOR - Beta / PUblic Test Chanel On (Rift COre 2)
5) Plus various launced from Steam VR
6) Launched from Desktop Icon with Steam VR Closed
7) Launched with Admin Privledges.
For about 2 hours of trying, STeam now says that I've played Fallout 4 VR "2 Minutes".
I give up, guess i am waiting for a fix...
I purchased and downloaded Fallout 4 VR today, and was never able to get it to launch.
Here is a breakdown of what I tried:
I tried lanuch from steam and from the icon.
I found the .EXE and set to run as Administrator
I tried reinstalling my NVididia Drivers.
I tried reinstalling my steam client.
I verified that I had all the updates installed on my Steam Client.
I verified that I had all the uupdates installed on my Oculus Client.
I verified that I can still launch other SteamVR titles successfully.
I verified the firmware on all my devices was Up to date.
I tried toggling the regular version and the Beta version within SteamVR.
I tried toggling the Oculus Home "Public Test Channel" On/Off
I tried toggling the Oculus Home Beta (Rift COre 1.0 / Rift Core 2.0)
I watched youtube videos and read forums for additional hints.
I restarted many, many times.
I opened all the SteamVR Logs and read through all the entries for hints.
I tried tweaking overscan from 1.0 to 1.5.
I played with some other INI Settings as a final "Hail Mary.
The only thing I didn't do was uninstall FO4 VR completely and reinstall.
And.. Ultimately... I requested a refund.
My only guess might it doesn't like SLI. I have an i7-6700k with 32Gb Ram running two 4g NVDIA GeForce GTX 1080's cards in SLI Mode. I am able to play most things 4k ULTIMATE mode at 60FPS. If anything would cause a glitch, I suspect it would be something related to SLI optimization.
My game time is somewhat precious because of other demands on my time. I really can't invest any more time, energy or effort on a problem which has no reasonable hope of resolution. I'll request a cancelation and wait another 3-6 months until patch 1.3 comes out. Then, I'll reconsider whether I should purchase. I'll probably play non-vr Far Cry 5 for a month or two.
I've given up and requested a refund.
Sadly not an option for me as i have 50+ hours of play.
Been waiting for a fix to the touch controls and now it's here i can't play... if i wheren't an adult i would sulk lol
Still, glad you got a refund ;)
Andrew... I FIXED IT :D
I only had a single mod in my FO4 VR (light sabre) but i was running the open VR emulator.
Yesterday i tried uninstalling and re installing FO4 VR which did not work so in desperation i just uninstalled the Open VR emulator and uninstalled Steam. Deleted the program files/steam folder and re installed Steam & FO4 VR.
This fixed the problem for me and the game now loads and runs just fine.
Also Bethesda have indeed fixed the game so the Rifts touch controllers work as you would expect, thank you Bethesda for that. ;)
I work in software development, and I've been a PC Tech. I can fix/troubleshoot about anything, but it's too much like work. I used to obsess and tweak for days to get stuff like this working. Now, I try all the obvious things and combinations. Rinstall all drivers. Disable all bits. I can go through about 40 variations change one control each time in a few hours. If it still doesn't work, I've learned to walk away and come back later. Sometimes, issues mysteriously resolve themselves over time with unknown incremntal changes. We'll let the Steam Client update a few times. Rift 2.0 exit beta. Fall Out release a 1.3 patch. GForce drivers update a couple of times. Maybe a firmware update to some of the Oculus Hardware. Perhaps a windows update. And, who knows... maybe it wil magically work.
Also new save often crashes now too, but not quicksave.
I hear you, i have just over 430 hours on standard Fallout 4 and so was hesitant to pay again for a game i had exhausted... even with mods.
Have to say though, it is much more fun in VR. I dont get tired of playing :)
I really want to play Far Cry 5 on my PC but theres no way in hell i am paying £50 for a digital download. Doing away with the DVD's, leaflets, covers and cases is supposed to make the game cheaper... £50 is highway robbery.
