Mods that do not completely work in FO4VR.
After significant contribution from the community I am changing this list to what will not work, or only partially works. It is very clear at this point that the vast majority of mods do work in FO4VR and so knowing what doesn't will be both easier to manage and more valuable information. The exeception to this is mods that specifically result in increasing VR framerates as this tends to be priority number 1 in VR.

Also to anyone that is having issues with the plugins.txt/DLCList.txt and copying them over, if you go to your Fallout 4 VR folder (with the executable) and created a text document then add the following lines -

copy /Y %localappdata%\Fallout4\DLCList.txt %localappdata%\Fallout4VR\
copy /Y %localappdata%\Fallout4\plugins.txt %localappdata%\Fallout4VR\
fallout4vr.exe

Then save it as something like FO4VR_Start.bat, you can go to NMM and set the custom command to FO4VR_Start.bat, it'll copy over the files before starting up the game.

would elaborate on what you mean by go to NMM and set the custom command? Some of us arent tech savvy. What do you mean set the command to that how would I do that?


In NMM, click settings (The two gears icon), then the Fallout 4 tab, then under Custom Launch Command, for the Command box, set it to "FO4VR_Start.bat" or whatever you named the bat.

Then if you look at the "Launch Fallout4" button there's an arrow next to it. Click the arrow, then change it to "Launch Custom Fallout4" and use that to play from then on.

It'll run the bat which will replace your Fallout 4 VR plugins.txt with the one from your Fallout 4 install, which is the one that NMM actually edits since it doesn't know that Fallout 4 VR exists yet.

Regarding the DLCs and missing textures. I came across some old posts when Far Harbor went live that seemed to be related to the mod being loaded incorrectly (piracy?) which caused the missing textures. Whatever was done to fix that may also apply here then?

True Grass seems to cause CTD. When I removed it from my load, game loaded and ran fine.
Also, Immersive Respawns - Items Don't Restock But NPCs Still Repopulate seems to prevent the game from loading properly as well.

I've created a junction from AppData\Local\Fallout4VR to Fallout4, so NMM creates the files in the correct directory.

However, NMM neglects to add the * at the beginning of each .esp. Without it, the mods don't load. Also, it write protects the plugins.txt, which makes it impossible for LOOT to sort the mods.

I can't remember having these issues with the vanilla Fallout 4. Obviously something is amiss, but I don't know what. Why doesn't NMM work correctly with FO 4 VR?

Just keeping this bumped for the sake of the VR framerate mods listed by OP. Decided to finally tinker with mods and can confirm that these can help dramatically, even on higher systems. Better to have overhead.

What i do with loot is i run loot but i dont apply the load order instead i copy it to the clipboard and then paste it in my loadorder.txt

Does anybody feel like the weapons mods never show up in NPCs and vendors ? I've yet to find any of the weapons I installed, yet I can get them through console, so they work, but I'd like to avoid that... Am I missing something ?

I know the 10 mm SMG and pipe shotguns show up on npcs.

What level? Guns are add via a leveled list, and will start showing up when appropriate. Last thing you want is to be snipped by a gunner with a m82 or something way too powerful at level 5.

Only lvl 6, that might be it, but it’s mostly pistols, not really OP stuff. Not that it would matter in my game, survival with Brutality mod, if you’re not wearing some serious armor, 2-3 center mass shots or one headshot with 10mm and up will usually kill anyone, myself included.

Seen tons by level 20, on both arms and armor.

EnhancedLightsandFX does not work, this crashes when you try to enter Museum of Freedom for the minuteman missions... I just took out the * to disable it and I was able to enter it *phew*
