how to sculpt/customize face etc?

You cannot customize the way your character looks in the VR version. You will literally never see your character outside that very first moment, anyway.

Given you can load saves from regular Fallout, one way would be to do the character creation bit on regular fallout, no mods, and quit save right after you’re done, then load it up through VR Fallout ... A shame though, you can fully customize your character in Skyrim VR !

I'm annoyed that there's no vanity mode. I've always played Bethesda games in first person, but I still like seeing what my character looks like when I change outfits.

Same here, I liked to switch back and forth, especialy when I'm in power armor using the jets. Lets hope mod community will soon maby have that modded..?!

the best you can do is pick a decent prebuilt and then go get a hair cut

you can change your hair cut and color later, the face change doctor just cycles you threw the presets again, also ruining your current hair cut
