Exploding Mushrooms
How does a warrior beat the exploding mushrooms? My shield doesn't seem to stop them, and I have to time it perfectly to knock them back with my sword (which seems impossible when there is a group all slightly offset from one another). Is there a longer weapon that I just haven't found?
Thanks!

Use the crossbow

Which requires three shots to kill one of several and then needs to reload while they move as quickly as I do?

You can buy better crossbows in the shops, the best one to buy is at the Orcshop . I shoot every damned mushroom that showed up and keep on mooving while shooting.

A small tip from the devs; "use the crossbow as a Gatling Gun", swivel continuously to reload while firing at the same time...it helps a lot with taking down the exploding shrooms, especially if your crossbow is low tier and not dealing enough damage.

Lambic, I feel your pain. I also got stuck in the progression where I couldn't kill the mushrooms. I think I just toughed it out until I could afford the 5000 crossbow, then it becomes pretty dang easy. I guess I could have bought a lower quality one sooner, but I do think it kinda breaks the game there.

Kamikaze rush enemies are one of the worst mistakes in game design. If I wasn't already over 2 hours in before they became so tedious I would have refunded. They are okay if used sparingly, but these jerks are ALL OVER the place in the second dungeon. Using crossbow like a gatling == RSI problems for days.

Please tell me these things are only in this one dungeon...

You can stun lock the mushrooms quite easily with your ranged equipment, and if you get a high level bow you can one shot them and take out their friends in the blast radius (Suggest doing the sarcophagus puzzle to get a high level ranged weapon, be sure to check both sides of the tablet to choose the weapon you want) They are only in the second dungeon.

Thank you. That motivates me to push through. I do feel that melee should have an option to deal with them. Maybe holding out or hitting them with your shield before they get too close reduces/eliminates the damage? Shooting with the crossbow to stun them is only partially effective because of the fire rate limit on the crossbows combined with the reloading. When theres 4 of them coming at you at once, one missed shot can equal death. On the normal bow its a bit better because its only limited by how fast I am able to draw back (though its still not ideal).

I don't get why people hate the mushrooms so much. I have a harder time with some of the archer traps.

Its not just the artificial difficulty, but that they just aren't fun or interesting. Its been done a billion times and for some reason copied over and over in games

I understand where you are coming from, however the mechanic invokes panic, stress and urgency which increases dopamine levels in the system and when overcome is rewarding to the player, this is the reason it is common in games. Not for everyone but many enjoy the rush.

That panic is exactly what happens, me and my friend see shrooms barreling towards us and it's a scramble to see if we can land a hit to stun them before they get to us. There was a stark realization that we were dealing with banelings when we encountered our first set and changed our tactics accordingly. Sometimes we get it, sometimes we don't. We started living a lot more when we realized we could hear them before we saw them many times.

I would enjoy 'the rush' if it weren't so tedious and overdone. When its unpredictable and well spaced/timed, its generally fine. In this game, its basically non-stop. Every corner, every room, its super predictable and boring to know you're going to have to do the backwards walk n fire every segment of the level

They are fine. Yeah they killed me a couple times but geez it’s not that bad. People cry about everything. Upgrade the crossbow back pedal a little bit and hit the damn things when you shoot and you’re good. Also they damage each other if you make them explode close to each other. Take your time! People rush into an area of six enemies and wonder why they die. It’s not Path of Exile ffs. Heck I kill half of them before they even get on track to me. Look around, listen, be aware!!

You can buy a necklace in the store that reduces acid damage by 20% - highly recommended
