Can you name the characters and adjust the way they look like X-com does?

No. This is not really an Xcom game, the characters have vibrant personalities, banter, and they play an integral part to the plot; they are pre-deployed depending on the map.

Mimimi's next game, Shadow Gambit, will offer a bit more customization (like choosing which characters you deploy and where) but the devs are not really aiming for a RPG where you manage nameless dudes.
