Is the game play different on a difficulty other then Desperado?
Hey guys, so I've started this game three days ago and I've been having a lot of fun but as soon as I hit the 6th level the game started to feel a bit tiresome. I don't want to say it is repetitive but my strategy is a bit on the repetitive side.

I've been killing enemies one by one which takes a whole lot of time and part of the fun is figuring out how to pick them one by one but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is taking so long to do.

I know on Desperado you can't time stop but I don't know if that's even a reason to make the game play any differently. I honestly don't want to go on a lower difficulty unless the game play is more fun.

So my question is, is the game play different or I should say is the game play more fun on let's say Hard rather then playing on Desperado?

Fun means different aspects of the game for different players

In desperado mode, you practically have zero room for error, as if you get in cone of vision they see you instantly, plus there is more guys to kill.

personally i'll definitely do complete run on this difficulty :)

Yup, I've been saving and reloading a lot on the Desperado difficulty.
Desperado can definitely be a chore, esp. if you're trying to get some badges. You have to spend basically all the time duck-walking, because if a guard halfway across the map gets you in his view-cone for quarter of a second - that's it for you. Additionally, due to the way the game is designed, guns are completely useless and in Desperado you won't even be able to line up your shots (as you know, Showdown doesn't pause the game there) so even with a couple of enemies in sight, you're probably dead already. Finally, you're pretty much required to abuse Body Lure, because of the insane networks of interconnected Ponchos.

So, unless you want to participate in some unspoken duck-measuring contest with anyone besides your own competitive spirit - no, you don't need to bother with Desperado.

That said, besides Showdown pause, another difference in lesser difficulties (even Hard) is you have a LOT more leeway with viewcones detection speed, and heroes have more life and ammo - so you might even get into a shootout or two and walk away, which might feel more "natural" to you. Still, the major jump between Normal and Hard is the latter adding a ton of Ponchos and Long Coats - and that might be the reason why you're experiencing a slog trying to dismantle the enemy setup. So yeah, you might want to try and see if Normal is more your speed.

It's difficult to say. You can see what exactly will change if you preview details options of each difficulty setting. You can also mix and match what you want.

I don't enjoy Desperado difficulty personally. Quick detection is too much, especially with existing control issues. Real-time Showdown is what I expected to be using, but it's busted.

Personally, played mostly on hard and did only one desperado playthrough later on. Probably, my personal default will be all hard settings, with detection speed being set to normal.

No, I've been playing on Desperado since the start. I don't want to go on a lower difficulty since that will probably kill the fun but I wish if you can stop the time that would make using guns much much more easier. I guess using guns to kill a lot of them is only viable if you can stop the time.

I've been only using guns if I know I'll get away with it or if there is a long coat since those bastard aren't easily killed.

Perhaps I got my answer. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. Now if you would excuse me, I got some things I need to fetch. Be seen ya partners.

I use guns the same way and you can use guns in Showdown without pause but you have to time it much better without the pause. Have you considered using all the Desperado settings except putting the pause for Showdown on? Using a custom difficulty.

I considered it when I started playing but you can't do that unfortunately which is why I said what I said above. But I guess that doesn't matter since I figured now that I'm enjoying timing when to use showdown.

I was mainly concerned that I was missing important gameplay features by playing on Desperado.

I've completed the game on medium first and restarted now on Desperado and it plays the same even with shorter recognition time because even on medium you don't want to be in a vision cone for "normal stealth no alarm" gameplay. If you want to paly guns blazing it's maybe another thing but with the low ammo count i didn't tried it before. In Desperados 1 with unlimited ammo you could clear whole maps without real problems.

I personally think that the fun part is doing the speedrun of every stage. Save scumming doesnt matter there if you are not fast and it is really satisfying to do all the missions with the minimun required actions. I really like everything in the game and i started playing on hard. Ill do desperado when i get all the badges.

I find that the game is alot more forgiving in lower difficulties so you can play a bit more around.

Obviously fun is subjective but one of the reasons I play on Normal is the same as BlueTrin, it gives you more flexibility to treat it like a sandbox and just try out different ways to get kills instead of 'beating' the level in an optimal way. A couple of simple example are I try and avoid using Doc's sniper skill unless I really get stuck and I like trying to get co-ordinated multiple kills.

The additions in health and ammo really don't make any difference (I rarely use guns and a shoot-out just means pressing the F8 key) but the one that does is the increase in spot time. I just find that means you don't get punished for ever little error but what I don't do is try and particularly use it to my advantage.

So although I do agree that it can be repetitive I do feel it gives you the tools to break out of that and just try things because you can.

Difficulty Setting is a personal preference. I have played the previous game Shadow Tactics, starting on Normal, and when i completed the game, i found out that completing every mission on Hard difficulty gives u an achievement per mission. So in my case, having this knowledge, i started Desperados 3 on Hard difficulty, and finished it. Then went back through every mission once more on Normal/Beginner difficulty to try speedruns and no saves etc. and to earn other badges.

I also dabbled with Desperado difficulty where i saw only 2 differences one being No pause in Shadow mode and other is Viewcone detection as instant. But, the amount of enemies are the same as in Hard difficulty(i checked).

NOW TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, If u have started on Desperado difficulty for your first run of the game, then LOWER IT to Hard difficulty where u will get certain relaxations and also achievements.
