Game too expensive?
So, currently shadow tactics is #6 on the global steam topsellers at 6€, while Desperados 3 is like at place 80 something with 50€ as the price, several pages down.

To my knowledge, the Steam global topseller page is based on revenue in a certain timespan until the list updates, not just units sold. This would mean that Shadow Tactics isn't just widely outselling Desperados, but also making a lot more money.

Desperados 3 being several pages down the topsellers just a week after release is not a good sign. My impression is that at 50€ its competing with games several time more bombastic and marketable, no matter how good of a game it is.

If you can't afford it you shouldn't buy it. Perhaps you can ask your mom for some more allowance.

Damn, salty replies

I didn't even say that its too expensive for me. My steam library is worth more than your car.

Whoah, you mean a game that's on sale for £5 is selling more than a full priced game? We might need to get some detectives in here to figure out what's going on.

Steam topsellers is based on revenue so whatever point you are trying to make here is moot.

Well yes, lots of people buying a very cheap game would make more revenue than the lesser number of people paying for the full priced one. Hence why I said it's selling more. How is my point moot?

I'm not even a native speaker and can tell that selling more references copies and not a monetary sum. Shifting goalpost.

If 10 people buy Shadow Tactics for £5 it has made more revenue than 1 person buying Desperados 3, how is this so hard for you to understand?
Thousands of people are buying a £5 game compared to hundreds of people paying for a £45 one.

This really, really isn't hard to understand.

If your new launch isn't in the first 5 pages something is wrong with the pricing, objectively.

It's clear you're just going to continue being obtuse so I'm going to stop wasting my time on you now.

not my fault precise wording is not your thing. Clearly I understand revenue, why are you explaining it to me? Point being its badly priced when it disappears from the top selling list after a week. A 4 year old game you put on sale shouldn't make more turnover than your fresh new release unless your pricing is prohibitive.

I'm not saying its not worth 50$, but clearly its not selling well.

I mean generally the appeal of sale is to buy older games on deep discount, not new full price games. Desperados3 would indeed do really well if it kept it's place as the top seller during steam sale.

So what that people buy Shadow Tactics? First of all, that's good. They are interested in the genre. Quite possible this interest was fueled by Desp3 release. Maybe once they are done with ST they will want more?

I don't think you can expect every game to have massive day 1 sales. Some can have long legs. There is no doubt that high regional pricing might have scare off many customers. Still it doesn't mean they won't return when the game is cheaper later down the line.

I almost finished with campaign and thats around 20 hours playing on normal. IMO this game is amazing and totally worth the price and i dont even like these kind of games. Was never big fan of Commandos or past Desperados games. I hope this sells well i want to see more of this
