I'd like that too. Not because I find it offensive, but it just doesn't fit the tone, IMO. I much preferred the exaggerated voices and fake curse words of D1.

I don't remember it being anywhere close to this game. I remember a lot more "you yeller belly" and "ay caraba" and maybe a very occasional "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" from doc. Maybe even a "hell" Eg:

I'm not bothered by the swearing, just miss the more comedic/whimsical tone of the original, where everyone had funny voices. Also, coming up with insults like "you here pack o' mules" takes (a little) writing talent. "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" is just lazy.

Specifically I’d like to see a WYL (Watch Your Language) update arrive in the weeks to come. While I’m not averse to a bit of full-blooded Anglo-Saxon cussing in the right context, I’d argue that the D3 could have done without goons that mutter things like “Focus, you piece of sh*t!”, “What the *uck!”, and “Sneaky mother*uckers!” at regular intervals. The gratuitous swears, which seem confined to certain levels and enemy types, sit awkwardly in a game that eschews grit and realism in other areas

That's a shame. I dislike modern slang in historical settings, and that goes with modern cursing in old setting. I don't blame for German studio not wanting to try to write in old-timey american, but I would appreciate even a soft attempt at it.

Yes, well I posted this knowing full well I'd get that kind of response from the steam crowd. Can't avoid it.

It looked to be a good game. I'll pass for now unless they add a way to turn it off.

lol wow not buying a game because you cannot turn off the swearing....which is totally accurate to the time period and the type of character portrayed in this game. Not to mention seems to be a reasonable workaround by changing the language if you're that offended by it

Anyone ever see the show Deadwood? And wonder why they use swear words soooooo much? Because that is how people actually talked at that time! They even went into such details in the behind the scenes/making of Deadwood type of videos
