Noob to Flight Sims, would love some tips
Hey all,

I have had A-10C for quite some time now and really loved it despite having a cheap $20 logitech flight stick. Although I of course became overwhelmed the more I learned about the aircraft and quickly realized that my flight stick wouldn't handle all the controls I needed unless I wanted to memorize a ton of unintuitive hotkeys to my keyboard as well.

So anyway, I'm really picking up interest again in flight sims and want to invest in a flight stick worthy of this game. What should I look at? I know the warthog HOTAS exists, but may be a bit too much for my uncertainty of commitment. The $150 Saitek X52's look really similar and doable, but I would like to hear from this community about them. I don't have VR or Headtracking so I'll be keybinding look commands to the flight stick, so keep that in mind.

After a lot of reading of the manual, I'm pretty familiar with the A-10's basic flight/weapon systems including the MFD's and it's SOI feature. With that said I was thinking it would be cool to use my second monitor as one of the MFD's. Is that possible? I mean I'm really completely new to Flight Sims all together and just would love some direction for things that I "must have" or things you wish you knew about sooner to make my experience as enjoyable as possible while not spending a fortune on equipment all at once.

I eventually want to have some neat toys to immerse myself more in flight sims, but this is all for starters as I ease into the fun :)

Thanks for any help!

i woul recommend getting a good webcam or Track IR for facetracking, because you already have a flight stick. Make sure you use 1-2 buttons as modifier toggles so you can map more stuff onto your flight stick.

I you realy want a HOTAS get the Thrustmaster T16000M. Best bang for the money.

Feel free to add me if you have any questions

I made this post a long time ago, but since then, I've actually picked up a HTC Vive. I still don't have a HOTAS though but I will look into the one you recommended. Thanks for the comment :)

also make sure you read Chuck's guide, he does an awesome job at explaining everything you need to start, from there you can expand your knowledge bit by bit by researching or reading manuals :)

if you want to go for a flight feel free to add me on steam, i'm using both DCS World 1.5 and DCS World 2
