Excavation question

there are options under excavation section: buy 1-10-100-smart-max. which one should i choose? do higher numbers make excavation more likely to give you more valuable stuff?

It does not; that just bulk-buys Excavations and treats it as if you'd bought them individually (essentially). Early on in the game, it's better to buy only the minimum amount of Excavations to get what you need (such as Faction Coins) so you can save them for when you really need the FC.
