Slow research unlocking at R17
Hi everyone!

So, I'm currently at R17, 1e69 Gems, 588 Trophies (only required missing is Equality, which seems to be not important) and following Musicfamily guides.

I'm trying to reach lvl 105 research in each branch with Goblin/Titan (much more money) as advised and it's veeeeeeeeery slow. My highest is Economics 95 and I'm gaining 0.02e138 coins with all spells active while next research lvl is at 5e139.

Is it normal to be so slow or am I missing something? Is it from the lack of gems, should I try to reach 1e72/75 with a merc build? And if, which one? Lightning Forge? (I have the feeling Easter event helped much grinding gems...)

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Use strong Research builds to grind gems, pick up Research levels as you can afford them. There's really no trick or difficulty to it. Unless you're choosing all the wrong upgrades.

Use Elf or Angel if you're struggling to make the FCs, Fairy or Demon if you're struggling on the profits. Just like every other point in this game after the first set of abdications (for the Trophies), short, fast, strong builds will be best.

If you find yourself struggling to achieve something, just ask yourself - Would this be easier with more gems? Will this make me get more gems in future? If your answer to both is no, then it's not worth doing other than completionist reasons. If your answer to the first is yes, then (almost) always get more gems first. If the answer to the second is no, then it is of debatable worth anyway, and should probably just be skipped.

IF you can do research at that point, then you should not use mercs, unless it is for something specific. So vanilla+research > merc without research.
No idea why you meantion Titan (but i`m also not at this stage anymore to know).
Your aim should be to gain enough gems, do excavations (if any) and reincarnate, which should take you 1-2 hours per R. Wasting time on maxing research points just by itself each R should not be mandatory. and having more gems on higher R will make it easier.

Events and/or SunForce definitely help A LOT.

(just for sanity: if going with goblin, then you should use goblin and not drow)

Right now, the quick gem grind template from the old wiki is my "less inefficient" way to gain gems, although it's still not much. Or I'm not using the correct research template while playing vanilla factions ^^'

Musicfamily R16 guide, "Step 3: Buy at least up to 105 Research Points in each branch, use Goblin with Druid or Titan Bloodline." I'm using Titan instead of Druid because of my lack of coins, as mentionned earlier in the guide.

Musicfamily guide again, advising to get to research 105 at R16. that's why

So, I have to get Sunforce, but I'm still struggling to get Dawn stone :/

For Dawn stone, just keep trying.

After you choose goblin treaty at start and buy all of their upgrades, there is an option to buy drow trade treaty - this switches your faction from vanilla goblin to prestige drow. If i remember correctly, you should not do that at this R. Musicfamily says the same:
{quote]Important: Do not buy Dwarf/Drow while doing research[/quote]

Vanilla Flavor Juice only works for 25 minutes in a new game. Neither Titan bloodline nor drow trade treaty will counter that. Casting combo strikes as drow for a week is hardly a worthy substitute for another abdication followed by 25 minute run.

So ..

.. that signals you are missing something important.
