Rubies come from excavations and events. Best to put them in ruby power, starting with ruby gem bonus.
once you reincarnate you should just keep aiming to reincarnate till you unlock the mercenaries
each incarnation you should try to unlock different trophies
In other words, even though I'm knew I can confirm (like many old timers do in these forums) the majority of the guides in existence are wrong, and seriously outdated.

Some guides, say "keep HoL on zero, since the boost blah blah blah..."
missing the point that the boost needs a numerical value to actually boost.
this is what I've been doing, I'm R16 or so... not playing a ton, but yeah your strategy is what I have read/tested and it seems to work the best for the levels we are at.

Make sure you have "greed drive" trophy. I didn't when I tried. It looked like I had the trophy but then I noticed it wasnt highlighted lol
