Yeah, it's a fair bit of Mana (2M Mana), so it can take awhile. Some people manage to get to R7 without going past Automatic Casting because they don't want to wait.

the mana resets each reincarnate, Also I suggest Drow Goblin so you can rake up spells cast in the same time peroid the extra spell cast helps once your mana regen is higher then your max :)

You'll learn in time its a combination of the aligments you can get at a later time. tho going angels is a big help, and you can get it at R0 meaning no reincarnations

The event sare happening at special times of the year. But there was no new event since they released the Steam version of the game. For example they do events at easter or at Halloween. Usually they announce it early enough in their developers diary or with an update of the game.

And about the autocast upgrades: all of them have a trophy. Just look at the trophies and you can see all other upgrades and how to unlock them. But be aware that the last one wants you to ascend at least once and ascending is neither abdicating nor reincarnating. You probably need over a month to reach the first Ascension.

And if you want to unlock all available autocast upgrades you better wait until R7 since there you have a good faction and an additional good upgrade for this.

For unlocking the Autocasts - you have to do it in 1 Reincarnation AND buy the upgrade to unlock the trophy, which permanently unlocks the Upgrade for you. If you don't do that before you reincarnate, you have to meet the Mana requirement again.

As for Events, the next one will probably be a variation of the Summer Festival Event. DG reuses, but adjusts, the Events from the year before, trying to balance them.
