Do my buildings eventually change appearance?

I've gotten the achievements for getting 200 of various building types and they still look exactly the same... I know the numbers can get pretty stupidly high in this game, so maybe I need a lot more than this? At what point - if at all - do the buildings actually change?

The building images on the background itself should change, last time I checked, at certain thresholds of building counts. I don't remember what they are, though.

I thought that it would be each time you passed one of the achievement counts... like... 50, 100, 150, 200.... but it's clearly not.

1500, 5000, 11000, 20000 A1+

Ah, never quite got a building to 300 yet, that explains it.
