Angel challenge 2 headache

So i ran it for hours, got the 500,000 mana, but nothing... challenge not affected

Yes i used the angel bloodline, yes i have the upgrade for spell unlocked, and yes i have reincarnation 8+...

My guess is that it failed because i had the other 4 spells on auto cast (not tax collection) but somehow tax collection is being cast as an effect of casting the others!

The problem is that if i don't cast anything, the mana will stay full and it won't increase towards the 500,000... like right now on a new run, it just says MANA PRODUCED THIS GAME 1900, and it stays on 1900 because it is not being spent! so no room to store new mana.

How do i do this challenge?

Check if u took the GB7 (Goblin Central Bank), which will cast a free TC whenever u cast another spell.

BTW, offline mana regen will have no mana cap.

Ok I restarted and stayed offline. I hit 600,000 mana, still no challenge unlock!

Never casted ANY spell. Followed all instructions to the letter. Ugh.

How did you hit 600,000 Mana generated if you haven't cast any Spells?

I generated mana by being offline. As i explained before, if i stay online the mana stays stuck since i am not casting any spells. (And if i do cast spells, challenge fails because it is somehow casting tax collection tied to other spells.)

It also has to be within three hours, and looking at your Autocast upgrades, you would need to go offline within 11.7 minutes of starting the run for it to count. You may also need to be online for the Challenge to award, as with Goblin Challenge 1.

If you're playing as pure Angels, nothing should be casting Tax Collection, unless you're accidentally hotkeying it or had accidentally set it to Autocast without realizing.

Before i tried it offline, i did it online. And it still didn't work.

No there was no autocast, i was very careful. I used it a few times in the first 10 minutes, then stopped, only put the other 4 spells on autocast, and left it. My math was that it would hit the 500,000 mana in about 1.5 hours and it did. However something went wrong since it didn't activate the challenge.

I am guessing it's the tax being cast in the background. Unless there's some condition that's not being worded precisely in the challenge description.

Nothing casts tax collection unless you did. Does TC tooltip sayd you cast it? Then you did.

If this statement means you cast tax collection, then that is why the challenge failed. It says not to cast tax collection. Do not cast tax collection, not even once.

Erm...

You used TC, but told us you didn't. This is why it failed - because you used TC. You cannot use TC until after the Challenge completes. Also, all Challenges that have a time requirement must be done in the first x-whatever of that run, not from when you start running the Challenge.

I see, that was the problem.

Do you agree that the wording on the description is not precise?

It says 500k mana in 3 hours, it doesn't say 3 hours from starting a run. The current wording means it can be done in any chunk of 3 hours, no matter what you did before... as long as in 3 hours you make 500k mana, and you don't cast tax... it should do it. I really believe those descriptions should be super precise because a small detail like that can make you waste hours or even days, and it can be very frustrating.

It is both precise and abstract. "Within three hours" could be referring to any three-hour period, or from the start of the run. With RG, assume it's from the start of the run.

Letting you know for the future - if something isn't working, check the Known and Perceived Bugs and Issues post to see if it's mentioned there.
