It does, indeed, speed up the game, but not by much. Bascially, GotH helps you set up the start of a run and provides a small bonus to production and such. It just makes things take a few minutes less. It's worth it to get, but also not something you would need to play.
For a simple example, after you unlock Merc at R4, u will using exacvation to meet your beginning requirements of faction coins at every start of a run, so extra initial money has nothing to do. And every normal upgrade then will have over 100% boost to production, GotH seems like quite a bit right?
In one word, It's not worthy but at least helps.
Besides, it could unlock a further premium upgrade called 'Gift of the King' or something like that, which is more powerful (only compared with GotH..still weakened after R10 or even earlier)
