as the drow spell is permanant production bonus that increases with each cast (least once you get the upgrade)
2)Undead are, by far, the second weakest faction in the game, with the weakest being drow themselves. Offline production is a "great" example of a noob trap: it makes you think it's good because it has big numbers, until you realize spells are multiplicative with each other and a spell combo will get you more gems and faster. Demons are simply better because they don't waste upgrades on offline production and they have a better faction spell.
The game very clearly states it.
