Challenges Questions

I have two questions:

1. How come when I complete a tier 2 challenge it has a red X on it, but the first challenge has a green check mark, what other additional requirements do I need to use the challenge 2 reward, I've tried unselecting the 1st challenge but the 2nd one still has a red X on it.
Edit: Apparently my fairy and Goblin 2nd challenge seem to be useful for other factions, the fairy one seems to be working for the Goblin faction, while the Goblin 2nd challenge is related (I think) to Demon faction. Are 2nd challenges reward other factions, if so why isn't it listed which factions are compatible with such reward, or is any faction other than the one where the challenge came from (So the fairy challenge reward affects everything but fairy).
1b. Is there special conditions for the 3rd challenge and more.

2. I read somewhere that a prestige faction upgrade could help with a vanilla faction challenge, does that mean you can align yourself with a prestige faction and still be allowed to complete a vanilla faction challenge, or maybe was that in the past but an update changed it?

1) Only the first Challenge Reward applies to that Faction, the next one(s) apply to other Factions, which can be determined by looking at the background of the Challenge itself, which will match the coloration of the first Challenge of the Faction it applies to. The final Challenge Reward applies to all Factions, and the Challenge Spell Upgrade applies if you have the Spell and have purchased the first Spell Upgrade (through the Trophy).

2) For most, you can go Prestige and complete the Challenge. Some it's buggy on. It's actually a bug that allows this - Faction Challenges are meant to be completed as the Challenge itself, without Prestiges.
