can't raise sail, damaged from start

Hello... I'm at the beginning of the game, and have lowered the sail with the crane. The sail button, engine button, and fuel lift were all on fire (everything blew up when I came to a stop under the crane platform). I put the fires out, but there are still electric crackles in those areas. The lift and engine buttons still work, however, the sail button does not. I cannot push it. I figured that was something I did later so I kept going... except I am now out of fuel and stuck. I can walk only a certain distance before I'm stopped.

I checked online and the sail should work right away. Also noticed that nobody else had their vehicle damaged at that point in the game...

I'll load an earlier game and try again...

well, I loaded an earlier game and nothing blew up and caught fire this time, so no damage and the sail works. I have no idea what happened the first time, not sure if it was a bug or what, but I'm now good...

Had the same problem and still no fix after years, it's annoying having to redo the game from the start. 15 minutes wasted.
