There, now it says spoilers, despite not really being much of one.

Yeah it's big for the sake of being big, like the achievement says, it's all hubris.
Probably would have been more efficient with wheels or something.
Pretty awesome when u first start it up though. Contrasted very well when it catches fire a minute after. :D

i dunno, the Okomotive is pretty crap at fuel efficiency as well. if all their vehicles burn through fuel that fast im not surprised everything went to hell

Don't forget this is steam powered. Back then locomotives carried tons of coal. Compared to that, the okomotive runs pretty lean on a few crates and barrels. It also covers quite a lot of distance compared to the big one.

is it steam powered though? it looks like it converts them into a fluid, i think the steam is just a by product of the fuel, not the primary operation source

Hmm, you may be right, it's probably just my head-canon. Though to me, the era seems to fit based on the environment. The name and details of the okomotive are very remminsicent of steam locomotives too. The gears not so much, but it seems to be using a steam piston mechanism to power the big wheels. Though I know how artists are, they don't care if it would actually work, it just has to look cool :D

gotta use the firehose, pull the Okomotive up to it, try not to fall in and use the firehose to put out the flames

Time doesn't equal distance. Look at the scenery, and you will find you are meant to have been travelling wayyyy more distance than it seems from time and speed. The game is super stylized, so it doesn't really make sense to calculate the efficiency of the okomotives.
Also, Lone's vehicle is a very early model which could explain inefficiency anyway.

True, Ill give you that, but wouldnt they have attempted to improve that? I mean you can visibly SEE the walkships fuel level going down that is WAY too much fuel consumption

They said designing the giant ship to kinda make sense gameplaywise for both walking around and drive your okomitive in it was hard enough already. Imagine what you would have to do to make the epic giant walk interesting for a longer time.
But I must admit it would've been awesome to steer it just a little longer :D

As with a lot of things in this game, the Landcruiser hints at really cool gameplay which could have been, but is instead just an elaborate setpiece. I mean, imagine the latter half of this game consisting of travelling in the Landcruiser, managing its internal machinery, then lowering the Okomotive back down to the ground to collect more fuel before returning to it. It could have served as a building-sized base of operations for a large chunk of the game.

It's pretty awesome seeing the Landcruiser walk, though, especially with the bombastic music :)
