Saving the Okomotive (~spoilers~)

Does it always have to break in half or is there some way to prevent that? i sorta got attached to the thing after playing through twice and its sad to see it go as its the last piece, aside from the mailbox, that the character has from their old life and I assume their father.

Anyway I doubt okomotive is needed on salvage ship.

you never know, also it would be a great thing to put to shore for exploring. im not saying they HAVE to take it, im just wondering if it has to die. it could be left on the shore to wait someone else to find it

As we see vehicles sag into sand with time and probably becoming hard to pull out. Accidental breakup at the end of the journey not very sad. Also there is no way to prevent it.
