STAR OCEAN First Departure R (Global Release - PS4, Switch) - December 5, 2019

Square Enix has announced an HD Remaster version of the PSP game "Star Ocean First Departure" witch exclusive new features, high definition graphics, new artworks and Japanese voice over.

Uh, yes? Would be annoying if they only had #4 on Steam, but remastered #4 and other titles for consoles...

Yep, currently they don't have any organization for their releases, 1 title for android, 1 title for nintendo switch ps4, 1 title for pc.....It's a bit complicated.
We should spam on their official social accounts and ask them to port everything to PC Steam.

The current situation is:

Star Ocean 2 Second Evolution Remaster (PS4/Vita, Japanese only)
Star Ocean Anamnesis (Android/iOS only)
Star Ocean 5 (PS4 only)
Star Ocean 3 PS2 Classic (PS4 only, don't have japanese audio, it's just emulated)
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth HD (Android/iOS only...)


So far the best release is SO4 The Last Hope... PC and PS4 is the best combo. For all.

Yeah, I would love to see a Steam release along with Star Ocean 2, Star Ocean 3 and Star Ocean 5 despise being the weakest game in the series.

Well, actually any remakes they will give us will be a godsend.

What's the point when we know SE doesn't care enough to remake the pre-rendered backgrounds in high resolution? (They probably won't even use higher quality source files for the audio) It will look just as bad as the SO2 port to PSvita/PS4.
An ugly mismatch of high res character portraits and ultra low resolution bitmap backgrounds.

Just play the PSP version in an emulator and you will get almost the same experience.

Except some people aren't pirates, I'm personally all for any Star Ocean comming to steam, My PC doesen't even meet the minimums for this one, got it anyways, lol.

Just having access to the original voice work makes the whole thing worth the purchase.

Looks as expected. The one game with pre-rendered backgrounds they should have access to high-res versions of or the ability to make them. Since they were made from scratch for the PSP remake.
And they've done literally nothing but swap the character art. The font is still the low res PSP font.
