Also crit in general is so so unless blindside. Pretty sure Reimi is fine later with good attack stat boost. She's a bit abused anyway since she can shoot whatever from afar and use skills too...
She's not getting smacked around--and interrupted--nearly as much since she isn't within melee range, which means she can spend more time doing actual damage. Once she does take aggro, you can Blindside and/or switch over to someone like Edge to reclaim aggro. Rinse and repeat.
She even has a battle trophy which is usually easy to get do 3 criticals in succession as her #3 trophy. In the original game she was the top crit rate character.
My Level 45 reimi on this remaster has only 712 ATK, with same weapon on xbox360 she has 846 ATK.
With that said she does outdo bacchus as his jump attack is also nerfed, his normal attack fires way less frequently than reimi. But bacchus has access to 2 excellent special artesat this point, termination and galvanis shock. Remi's crimson squall is normally a top tier special arte but its suffering with her low crit rate and ATK stat.
Meracle I think has survived any nerf's, still has best ATK stat, decent weapons, but her best special arte's take time to be learnt.
Edge is so so he becomes a jack of all trades but not outstanding at anything.
At the point of the game I am at currently which is roak, the mage's are the DPS kings. They were already good on the 360 (not recognised by most players), but in this version their weapons have HUGE INT boosts vs the original game e.g. faize with his mithril rapier a msssive 666 INT stat on it (and also decent ATK on it as well), has nearly 1000 INT and ice needles DPS is insane about 3x of crimson squall. Of course faize leaves the party not long after you get access to mithril rapier, right now I am using it to steam roll through the colleseum to get to ashley..
Myria with either the staff from the roak story boss or the item creation ice staff, will get around 300 INT from her weapon, and her highish natural INT puts her at about 780 INT, the second highest behind faize, but still over 100 behind, her ice needles is still better than what the physical guys can do but not insane like faize.
I have been so used to doing NG+ runs where I can pile on ashley jewels and double ATK jewel to reimie and bacchus, I didnt realise how weak reimi can be without these power ups. I know things will change post game where things will go polar, mages will suck and physical guys will be DPS kings, but thats not where I am now.
Sadly there is no international version weapon guides on the net I can find so they out of date showing the 360 weapon stats not the updated ones. On the 360 version, the mage weapons were much weaker on INT stat.
As an example I was needing beserk skill on reimi to get through the level 80-100 monsters in colleseum quickly. Her DPS was sucking bad. This is also only on galaxy not on universe or chaos.
With faize I didnt start using mindflare until that big mini boss at rank 60 or so.
Faize with this equipped and close to 1000 INT is a beast.

Faize was only level 42 with that cap, at 48 he has nearly 1000 INT now. Lower levelled than most of rest of my party who are in their 50s.
On the 360 the mythril rapier gives 333 INT.
Mythril rapier is a bit better as a synthesis fodder tho than the spear, and is 600 cheaper in coins to buy.
Could only do it with Edge consistently in the xbox360. Exchanging points 9k points for Scyth makes Arumat the strongest character post Roak to bonus dungeon. Evil bow for Reimi in bonus dungeon had the same attack as Arumat with that scyth both at level 80.
The nerf is quite bad for Reimi and Bacchus, only wth Focus skill active Reimi does close to the amount of crit Edge and Meracle has. The mages were already good to begin with.
I had tested it without using synthesis. The moment Arumat joins, I got into 2nd place.
