Clear Save File

[Cage JRPG Fanatic]

Was wodering, will it be easy to copy from someone a clear save file? Since I already played this game on console long time ago. And wasn't a huge fan of it.

The game is kind easy, and wanted to play on hard mode. In order to do that, I need to play the game twice. Which is a huge no no. I know this game has DRM and all, but is it easy to copy someone's save clear save file? Thanks.

I'd love that as well, I just realized I cba to do the first playthrough again when my PS3 save has all the difficulties unlocked :(

If that's even possible to use the PS3 save (after decrypting), it would require a CFW PS3 (I'm on OWF sadly) as the saves are locked in this game.

but give people time to do so. And cocncider: the system file on PC contains more information like resolution settings, can´t swap easily. So give people time to figure out

EDIT: Alternatively you can use cheat engine to change the difficulty

It does the same thing described below, but it removes the user error aspect, since you can't edit wrong offsets.


I think I figured out how to change the difficulty !


Open your save with an hex editor (save is located here: Documents\My Games\STAR OCEAN - THE LAST HOPE - 4K & Full HD Remaster\SaveData\<string>\USR-DATA01.BIN)

At 0xA8: add +2 to the value here (in hex ofc) +2 is asuming you play on Galaxy and want to play on Chaos.
At 0x11C: add +2

The save seems obfuscated in some way so I don't think the values will be the same for everyone, in my case it was F6 (then changed to F8) and 39 (then changed to 3B).

I tested in the first battle vs the giant insects and they were hitting a lot harder than on Galaxy, so I'm confident I was indeed playing on Chaos.
0xA8 is only for the difficulty showing on the save file, 0x11C is what truly changes the difficulty btw.

That's a nice find. Does the game still labels it as galaxy though?

No it will show as Chaos, that's what the value at 0xA8 does.

It says its chaos but its not. First thing, targeting indicators are still there, which dont exist in Chaos. I still killed the enemy with 4 normal attacks(blindsided) and they barely did any damage to me

I saved my game and the Chaos label went away. Now its no difficulty at all lol
