STAR OCEAN Timeline Events

For those who have never played Star Ocean, this information will be useful to you.

Actually there are 5 main titles, 1 spin-off, and 1 mobile game.
Every Star Ocean game is chronologically positioned differently than another.
There are no direct sequel or prequel, except for Star Ocean 2.

Going in detail, this is the correct order in the timeline events:

1. STAR OCEAN 4: The Last Hope (PS3-PS4-STEAM-X360)
   
2. STAR OCEAN 1: Fantastic Space Odyssey | First Departure (SNES-PSP)
   
3. STAR OCEAN 2: Second Story | Second Evolution (PSX-PSP)
   
4. STAR OCEAN: Blue Sphere (Direct sequel to SO2) (GB Japan Only) SPIN-OFF
   
5. STAR OCEAN 5: Integrity and Faithlessness (PS4) (PS3 Japan Only)
   
6. STAR OCEAN: Anamnesis (iOS-Android)
   
7. STAR OCEAN 3: Till the End of Time (PS2-PSN)

So, STAR OCEAN The Last Hope is the best choice to play it for first.
Anything else I can say could be a spoiler, so you just need to know this, and enjoy the Star Ocean debut on Steam.

Even if you play this first, it is the worst Star ocean game i have ever tried to play.

Have completed Star ocean 1, 2 and 3 games. Number two was one of the best jrpgs i have ever played.

Star Ocean 4 is great if you skip the cutscenes. Easily the most fun battle system in the series.
