there's a mix of lots of stuff. =)
Now if a Dev would make a game inspired by Ranger X that would be amazing. Ultimately would like a remake but it doesn't look like that will happen.
It is mostly all about the shooting. But logical extremes and all that...
I mean the original Castlevania on the NES was all about the whipping enemies and completing the objective. It's one of my favourite games. When I tried to look at more recent castlevania games and we have ENDLESS dialogue etc. It's just instant turn off for me.
P.S. Glad to see people praising Hard Corps and wonder if THIS game is gonna have branching storyline.
Contra Hard Corps is the high point of the series if you ask me, and I thought Contra 4 was fairly dull and derivative.
Like, Contra 4 has a level where you ride a huge missile through space and down into a city... and I found it boring to play. I don't even know how you pull something like that off.
Wayforward only knows how to make bland, derivative games that skate on pixel art & animation and not much else. They are highly overrated and Contra 4 was a demonstration in just how average Contra can be.
Inti Creates is losing their luster too, if not already. They were at least capable of greatness... though it seems long ago.
The power of Jake Kaufman cannot be overstated.
Absolutely.
Can't wait and good luck devs !
Hard Corps was a successful attempt at trying to add a few new elements and some replayability to an aged and now niche genre of classic 2-D side-scrolling shooters. Contra III is and always will be the best in the series. Contra III: The Alien Wars> Contra: Shattered Soldier> Contra: Hard Corps - in that order. You even mentioning Contra 4 is laughable at best.
