Fences 3

Fences 3

Renamed icons returning
I frequently rename a folder that I store on the desktop. I don't know what triggers it, but frequently the old folder name shows up in the fence with the new folder. F5 will refresh and get rid of the old one, but how do I stop it from happening in the first place?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

How often is 'frequently'?

In a folder portal or regular Fence?

I change the name of the folder every day and it seems to reappear at least twice a week. It is a regular Fence. It is the Fence that I have assigned as the Fence to get all new icons created on the desktop.

NE1 know if there is an actual support site for this app?

I just can't reproduce it nor do we have any other reports. My suggestion would be to burn Fences and reinstall:

I wouldn't be surprised if it was an issue with me running both Fences and DisplayFusion eventhough I have the icon features of DisplayFusion turned off. There I gave you your out...just blame it on DisplayFusion and get to your next support ticket. I'm used to developers not knowing their own product. I do it for a living.

It would not be the first time that DS has caused issues without apps. Not a slight on that developer - just the nature of how the product works.

Don't know if this helps, but this morning I had the "ghost" folder in the Fence that it usually shows up in. I figured I would go to %userprofile%\desktop and see if the folder was actually there. When I opened the desktop folder there was only the folder that I renamed it to yesterday, and the folder with the day before's name was not there.

As soon as I opened the desktop folder and saw that there was no "ghost" folder there, the "ghost" folder disappeared in the Fence. Somehow opening the folder made the Fence do some kind of refresh.

Think I'm gonna try deleting and recreating the folder everyday instead of renaming and see what happens

Well, deleting and creating the new folder instead of renaming it has kept the ghost from appearing.
