McOsu
WhiteCat 2.0 skin not working in McOsu
When i try to load the skin in McOsu, I get this error, and straight into a crash:
OpenGL Image error 1285 on file C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Local\osu!\Skins/- ãCKã WhiteCat 2.0 _ new/play-skip-0@2x.png

On osu! it works fine. So what's different in the way McOsu handles skins that makes it gives this skin an error along with a crash right after?
Publicado originalmente por McKay:
1) OpenGL error 1285 means "Out of memory"

2) Your GPU does not have enough memory to load all skin elements

3) McOsu always loads HD @2x skin elements by default, even if your screen resolution is below 1600x900

4) The reason you only get this error here is because osu! does not load HD @2x skin elements if your screen resolution is below 1600x900. (I don't know what your screen resolution is, but this is my best guess.)

5) You can disable loading HD skin elements which should fix it: Disable Options > Skin > "Load HD @2x"

6) If you can't open the game anymore because it always tries to load the whitecat skin now, then open /<Steam>/steamapps/common/McOsu/cfg/osu.cfg with a text editor and change the line containing "osu_skin_hd 1" to "osu_skin_hd 0"

Edit: I just checked the whitecat v2 skin which was uploaded to the workshop today (24th March 2021), it requires ~3 GB of VRAM in both osu! and McOsu which is insane (when loading HD @2x).

Disabling HD @2x reduces it down to only requiring ~700 MB of VRAM.

So yeah, the skin is just huuuge. Either get a new GPU with more memory, or disable loading HD @2x, or don't use that specific skin.

Well, I turned 2x off and it works, I turned it back on, took off the skin, put it again, and it works? I don't understand how but disabling and re enabling Load 2x worked. Thank you though.

VRAM usage is not deterministic nor consistent. Any application running in the background on your computer may allocate memory on the GPU, even Windows itself uses a few hundred MB by default. You can watch dedicated GPU memory usage in the Performance tab of Task Manager.
