McOsu is playing the wrong hitsounds no matter which settings I use
Hello there, I've been having a problem lately with McOsu. It seems with most skins I used, the hitsounds do not match the ones that are used in the normal osu client. I've tried selecting "Use skin's sound samples" and this does not work. Instead, it plays some hitsounds I've actually never heard before on most of the skins.

So does anybody know how to get normal hitsounds in McOsu? I only have one skin that matches the same sounds from normal->mcosu, and thats whitecats one but im trying to use a different skin right now. Thanks for the help in advance.

edit: Also, I've already tried replacing "drum", "normal" and "soft" .ogg files inside the skin, this did not work either.

McOsu currently only loads hitsound files with a WAV or MP3 file extension, even though OGG is supported just fine by the audio library.

Workaround: Just rename all hitsound files which end in .ogg to .mp3 and it will magically work (should even still work in osu! too).

"Use skin's sound samples" should be enabled if you want your custom skin hitsounds to be used at all (so leave it enabled).

I'm currently working on a bigger update which already has ogg support for skin hitsounds, but that is still a few weeks off (until I get enough free time to actually finish it).

Some more details:

Keep in mind that McOsu does not support beatmap hitsound overrides, since practicing is better with consistent hitsounds which don't change randomly for every beatmap (most non-beginner players have "Ignore all beatmap skins" enabled in osu!). This is in part why "Ignore beatmap sample volume" exists in McOsu.

Also, the McOsu default skin has different hitsounds than osu!'s default skin, therefore if any skin does not include a specific hitsound, then the fallback will of course sound differently in both clients.
