WASAPI ultra low latency audio beta (Windows)
Is now available as a beta for testing:

Right click the game in your Steam library > Properties > BETAS
> select "wasapi-test".


Then in-game go to Options > Audio and follow the instructions for configuring the WASAPI buffer size and/or exclusive vs shared mode.

Crackling audio needs a larger buffer size.


NOTE:
  • Windows Playback Device Properties > "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" must be enabled.
  • Windows Playback Device Properties > "Give exclusive mode applications priority" must be enabled.

Just tried this out, and it makes a WORLD of difference. I don't even know if I can go back to the official client, now. I used to have to put a -45 ms offset to play without hitsounds, but now I can use the same offset for hitsounds and no hitsounds. Thank you.

No, exclusive audio device access is not practical for VR, also you don't have to click on the circles so latency is not a problem.

XD bro i can't stop laughing, after i enabled this friking demon of a mode, i was asking myself why the hitsound was sounding before i clicked, bro explain to me. latecny rabbit hole came to an insane end where a mode can predict when i click. At least so it feels. I literally had to stop playing for a second to see if it was the hitsounds or the music sound because it was so on time. Love you bro, dont forget you will be millionäire when i am famous

after playing wasapi mainly i found a problem, so after playing for some time the sound engine breaks and the game starts to stutter noticably, becoming unplayable, if you have the buffer on a low setting like 11ms when this happens it additionally starts crackling when this bug happens, but if you have it on something like 25ms then the sound engine will still break but the crackling wont start while still making the game stutter.

so 2 examples:

buffer on 11ms and you play, initially there is no crackling, but after some time playing, it starts crackling while you are playing, and the game starts to stutter as well,

then you restart the engine and put the buffer to 25ms, and the problem is fixed for now, but after some time the game starts stuttering really hard again, but this time without the crackling, until you restart the sound engine,

this bug is inevitable and will happen when you play for some time,

is there any fix to this?

You can't, this needs to be supported at the game engine level.
