Did you create any?
If you, during a campaign/story match choose the option to create a checkpoint (even if you dont use it), it locks you into earning an A-rank at best, and leaves you unable to achieve a S-rank.
And if you've set the difficulty (which you can do at the uh, world map) to something lower, your ability to get higher rankings is removed (as well as how many stars you're able to get, depending on said difficulty).
So for S-ranks, i assume you need to be using the default (hard) difficulty, and need to not make a checkpoint EVER, you can safely suspend and continue a match later but making checkpoints makes S-ranks impossible.
Double-check your difficulty settings and see what they say if you're still unable to get a S-rank. You can also check the uh, "overview"? That shows you player's gold income and a zoomed-out map, during campaign matches it also tells you how many turns you have to achieve an S or A-rank. (If it says you need to beat it in X turns or less for an A-rank, then you're not eligible anymore for a S-rank because of difficulty and/or checkpoints. If it says to beat it in X turns for a S-rank, then you're able to get it, as long as you beat it in X turns or less.)
---
(Does seem kinda stupid if you ask me. Why force those wanting S-ranks to do it all over if they make ONE tiny mistake? Those matches take forever and there's endless amounts of RNG that could screw you over if the enemy say, survives with 1% friggin' health and blocks your unit's pathing for the next attack.
Incredibly stupid design. The only real black mark on this game, i suppose. If anything, the reliance on good RNG means that for the least frustrating S-rank experience you'd need checkpoints. Even good ol' Advance Wars wasn't this stingy about giving good ranks.)
Many thanks! I used the checkpoint to reload mission, I think is the reason that can't catch the S-Rank.
Sorry for my English! ^_^
