What are some examples of games similar to Wargroove and Advance Wars?
By similar, I mean turn-based battles on smaller-scale grid maps, ideally with the same pixellated and colorful vibe.

I've found the following titles so far:

-Battle Isles
-Into the Breach
-Battle for Wesnoth
-Fire Emblem (but I don't like the aesthetic tbh)
-Polytopia has similar aesthetics but it's closer to 4X like the Civ series

There's WARBORN but I haven't tried it
Into the Breach feels more like a puzzle game to me
There's Shattered Throne but I couldn't get into it

Amusingly enough, it is in the title of the post?
The fan-made versions technically are separate I guess?

You can place you legally acquired dump of Yggdra Union into Retroarch here on Steam and run it using the PPSSPP core. :thecog:

Yggdra Union/Unison, Blaze Union.
Honestly one thing that bores me about strategy games similar to advance wars is.. why do they ALL have to go the medieval fantasy route? Not that their bad games but it's literally what 80% of them are. Is there nothing more.. scifi? military? apocalyptic? anything.. OTHER than the same knights dragons wizards rogues aesthetic we get every other damn grid-based strategy game?

This game's more similar to Final Fantasy Tactics, but... if fire emblem is considered close enough, this probably is too.
