Doesn't help she looks 40, but everyone talks to her like she's a teenager.
The game is still good in spite of that though.
That being said, it is odd that she looks so old when that's clearly not meant to be the case. One of the yellow faction's commanders describes her as "fair" in the campaign dialogue, despite her face being covered in scars and wrinkles.
She's supposed to be young, fair looking, and inexperienced. Yet looks older than most of the cast, and looks more battle-worn than the patchwork zombie.

I suppose it's just the artist over detailing everyone's faces, and Mercia smiling just didn't mix well with it.
Didn't want to go there, but

Yep that's it... to be honest it's not that bad for characters like Sigrid (even tho she's a pale vampire and it's kinda like seeing a red dot in the midle of a white circle) but this isn't needed, it looks like they catched a cold heh
I think what happens is that the story for the game wasn't MADE until after all the characters were made and voice actors were given, meaning she may originally be a much older character, but was made into a young character in the flavor text.
It's what you expect from a indie development from Chucklefish, the quality of the intro animation means that they outsourced it to someone outside the company.
In fact, the idea that they even published games onto a platform more than PC and can include cross-platform connections means they most likely outsourced some expertise on the matter.
This means the need to make the art and marketing 'consistent' with their ingame concent isn't a priority.
The sprite artist isn't the same in either game
