Ever heard of Langrisser?
I know this game is actually inspired by Advance Wars, but I thought the active roles of commanders being heroes reminds me of the Langrisser series. Although, Langrisser seems to have more units on the map.

Thanks for sharing this! I loved Warsong growing up and had no idea that this existed. It looks like it's getting good reviews too so I'm gonna check it out.

It appearing on mobile as a f2p only spells microtransactions...

I bought this mainly because this was like a modern Warsong. Langrisser sequels went too anime or ugly 3D, so I'm glad this game exists.

Der Langrisser on the Super Nintendo is amazing. I recommend it to anyone who likes turn base tactic games. The heroes can level up into different classes, multiple story paths, challenging maps and tons of different units.

There is also Tactics Ogre i believe, and if we are talking about turn based tactic games, there is always Fire Emblem and Shining Force, sure, the old Fire Emblems require a translation patch if you don't know japanese, but they are still a thing.

Also Front Mission and...Super Robot Wars for the SNES?

I put a question mark because the SNES had a few games of a series called Super Robot Wars in it that were like Fire Emblem, only sci-fi and with robots...but i don't think they aged that well and unlike some series, i do think later games surpass the first ones.

Shining Force I & II are the peaks of the genre.

I guess this less known title will be appreciated here. It is basically a RPG maker demake of Langrisser 2 and Der Langrisser.

Thanks, although I already know about this, but having more Langrisser-like games is always a plus. Do you know any more games like these?

Not that much like Langrisser. But I know several games like Advance Wars on Steam:

- Tiny Metal (of course)
- Warborn
- Chaos Sector
- Chaos Galaxy
- Future Wars

Well, there're of course also the remakes of Langrisser 1 and 2 :D But I took this for granted.
