Probably NEVER.
To be perfectly honest, it would be interesting to see how a "Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy 2" would go if made. I am a fan of platformer games like these, as well as point-and-click games.

If they take into account the various shortcomings made here, when it will be very cool!

Anyway, if to think about it, somehow and for some reason they remembered this obviously very little-known game (I, for example, had never heard of it before just stumbled upon it on Steam by scrolling, although I played PS2 all my childhood and Spyro Hero's tail from the same developer was my favorite), and even decided to remaster it, although many times you can't beg out remasters even of super popular franchises. From all their games, not even Spyro or Crash, but this one they choose. They couldn't just go through their list and then be like "Oh, guys, remember we had Sphinx? We surely need to release it on PC!"

The main difference is that this game is completely original, while things like Spyro or Crash belong to a different company and where they were just hired to build and deliver a game project within client spec, in the same way you'd ask for a custom birthday cake. That was the bread and butter of independent studios like Eurocom and what paid the bills that let them do risky, experimental and creative things like Sphinx. That they fully control.

Makes sense. But still for some reason they, firstly, remembered about this game, and secondly, decided that it would be profitable to make a remaster for it.

These are all my personal thoughts on the matter.

1. This project is relatively small in that only a single person over eight years has been trying to improve and expand things.

2. People asked for it, and they repeatedly contacted what originally was Nordic Games, plus, people at the publisher also like it and knew about it.

3. The game isn't setting the world ablaze, but it has always been well-rated and liked by those who played it. It just never sold well, at least back in the day. But it does have a (growing) fanbase and mind share and it rightfully deserves a second chance to shine.

Hey all, I own this game on Gamecube. I got it when I was like 6. Then when it released on Steam I then bought it immediately. I wish more classic PS2 era games came to Steam like this. I would love to see Alter Echo come to Steam. Thank you dev
