Preliminary keyboard layout (and how to change the keys)
The game was meant to be played with controller. But by default it uses the following keyboard layout. Just in case you are in a bind and your controller isn't around:

  • A Button: Space bar — jump
  • B Button: F key — attack/hide
  • X Button: Tab key — contextual action
  • Y Button: Esc key — go back in menu/configurable item slot
  • Back button: Backspace key — Book of Sphinx/inventory
  • Start button: Enter key — pause menu
  • Left shoulder: Q key — configurable item slot
  • Right Shoulder: E key — configurable item slot
  • D-Pad: Directional keys — item rotator
  • Left Analog Stick: WASD keys — player movement
  • Right Analog Stick: Mouse direction — camera movement
  • Left Stick Press: Z key
  • Right Stick Press: C key

To change the default key bindings via configuration files take a look at this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/606710/discussions/0/1693785669871752529/

It's playable. We plan on adding proper, re-mappable, keyboard support soon enough.

The left analog stick thing with WASD in the file its assigned to the arrow keys. Is it a "bug"?

Does anyone know how to properly equip items in to the item slots? I've tried the combinations you'd expect, like Esc + Q / Esc + E in both the overworld and the item menu with the Shield of Osiris selected, but nothing happens, and I can't get past the Mysterious Palace's beam guard.

Using the directional keys press up or down to show the item rotator. Quickly highlight the item you want to equip, then press Q, E or Esc.

Yes, I am aware that the Esc key is an awkward key to put your shield on. We didn't plan on releasing the keyboard controls like this, but manpower is limited.

This is very high in the to-do list.

Ah, perfect! Thanks a lot for the help. And I understand the limitations, just unfortunate that some people don't.
oh gotcha! thanks for the clarification!

Can i invert the camera movement on the y-axis? That is important for me.

Yes, you have the option of independently inverting the X and Y axis in third-person mode, and the Y axis in first-person. It will also invert the mouse-controlled camera, if you choose to use it.

Cool. Thanks. :-)

The biggest issue I have is the camera speed. I remember playing it on ps2 and it was smooth, combat was fine, jumping on a pillar wasn't hard. In this one the mouse sensitivity is so damn high and sometimes it just stops working, locking my camera in some awkward place. I've died 15 times already because of this. I'll probably buy a controller for this game only so I can actually move around, but for now it's virtually unplayable for me in particular. (Maybe other people have better senses).

So after playing a bit more I've figured out a subtle problem. When I move my screen automatically adjusts to some weird position where I cannot see my enemies or the terrain I'm trying to jump to. It'll move down slightly, or to the left. I have control over the camera about 50% of the time, the rest kills me.

on a unrelated note, are you guys updating the gog version too?
Swyter  [developer] Nov 12, 2017 @ 6:24pm
Yes, we are. But as you can see the release process in Steam is more fluid as I can just push updates here as I go and ask the community for help. While in GOG it has to pass a certain quality control, and we seemingly interact with them through the publisher. There is more separation, and that may be a good thing.

Keep in mind that both versions are identical and DRM-free. You only *need* to use Steam as a distribution platform, once you download the game you can save it somewhere else and run it offline or without the Steamworks runtime.

That's...actually kinda cool. Kind of wish I didn't buy it on GOG, but hell I can wait.

Yes, devs, we all know that updating GOG is more complicated. But guess what is not more complicated on GOG: Posting your replys on the GOG forum as well. You know, the store were people were buying your game and wondering for days if you are planning "proper keyboard and mouse" support like it is written in the description. Guess what: opening up an account and posting there is just as easy as here on steam. So why are you one of the devs who cares about GOG money but not GOG support? Yes, steam rules - but GOG customers are people, too. Maybe you should think about that before releasing your game on different plattforms.

And just in case you change your mind and want to become one of the few devs I actually do respect:
