Heavy armor dodge penalty.
Most of the time I played as a hunter in light armor and did not have any difficulty with dodging. I decided to try the character in heavy armor. The difference in sensations from the gameplay is huge.

The description of heavy armor indicates penalties in reducing dodge speed and dodge window by 40%. According to my personal feelings, the penalty was all 60%, it’s so hard to guess the time for dodging especially if there are several opponents. In the early stages heavy armor does more harm than good - there is not much more protection than light armor, dodges are greatly weakened and medkit restores a small amount of hp. But over time you get used to it. And more expensive heavy armor significantly reduces received damage. Now it remains only to evaluate the comfort of the battle in heavy armor with poltergeists.

However I want to focus on two points.
First of all the question is the efficiency of the skill which reduce dodge penalties by 20%. According to personal feelings there is no difference whether a skill is learned or not. In addition if you look at the characters statistics in the inventory you can see that when wearing heavy armor and learned skill dodging speed is still -40%. Or does this skill only increase the dodge window, without affecting its speed?
Secondly. May be it worth to slightly reduce the penalty of heavy armor in the early stages? It is somehow strange that a leather jacket and an armored suit fetter movement to the same extent. A gradual increase in the dodge penalty along with increased protection would look quite logical, it seems to me.

I do hope in the future the developers team will offer more to the survival skill tab (it really lacking right now). Truth is some other stuff is not fully optimized ( developers already address problem about underbarrel shotgun attachment lacking damage compared to the other cheaper underbarrel tool ; they said it is still in prototype phase so better stuff (hopefully) will be fixed in future update. Why dont you check combat improvement discussion ? Most people wrote their critics in developer pinned discussion (marked ''pinned'' by developers)

Thanks for the suggestions & critique.

Yes agreed the 2nd skill is weak, good catch1
But we're thinking lessening the dodge penalty isn't very interesting as this armor isn't really about dodging, so we might change to something entirely different when the time comes ;)

Regarding the 1st armor having less dodge penalty, it's an interesting idea, however the reason we put it like this is so people know exactly what they're getting into, rather than 5-10hr later and regret the decision.

You can dodge with the heavy armor if you time it right before the attack connects, but yes it's not made for dodging multiple enemies, that's what the extra stability is for.

Hello. Thanks for the answer.

In general I was most worried about the moment with the second heavy armor skill. Since there was a feeling that 1 skill point was wasted...
There is really no great need to reduce penalties. The existing experience in game has allowed me to quickly accumulate the necessary amount of money and buy enough expensive equipment to make sure that heavy armor coupled with armored accessories allows me to practically forget about dodging and focus on accurate shooting.

The idea that the penalty for starting heavy armor was too big was due mainly to personal feelings - 30 hours of the game by the hunter in light armor with shotguns. There were many difficulties, but I dealt with all of them, defeated all the poltergeists and cemented the success by repeatedly fulfilling the hunting contracts. After that I decide to try out heavy armor build with smg and after a couple of the simplest contracts my thoughts were - it is useless ... The game itself is quite challenging and not for everyone. And I just tried to reason from the perspective of a beginner who is completely unfamiliar with the game and the overall impression was more negative.

However with the purchase of more expensive equipment my opinion about heavy armor gradually changed to a more favorable one. Now I am more than happy with it.
Moreover this build turned out to be much more tenacious, my hunter died only twice - at the beginning of the game and in a collision with his first poltergeist which was Banshee - 0 experience in using SMG against her + simultaneous activation of several EMP traps + screen distortion and as a result getting stuck in the wreckage of a table in the middle of the corridor did their dirty deed =)

I want to thank you for such an original game. I was very pleased that this is not just another gun and run shooter where you simply destroy endless hordes of monsters, but are forced to carefully monitor the situation and demonstrate maximum accuracy in all your actions. This is exactly the game in which everything paranormal is REALLY deadly and not just a beautiful decoration for a carefree pastime.
