You might be pleased to hear we plan to use antiques exclusively for the powerful cursed artifacts in Hellhunter, which one might say are the equivalent of enchanted weapons in RPGs.
An artifact has to have some serious (dark) history behind it, no different than a certain Colt ...
In the 4th video i got something truly powerfull and yet surprisingly compact and yet not.
3rd video has something that makes 50 caliber rifles look...boring.
Is black powder weapons with a grudge against it's owners that loaded it improperly or just didn't take good enough care of it till it blew up in their face dark enough?
1st video. Blunderbuss. Ancient shotgun.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCs2RIyeUwc
2nd. For those that want a rapid firerate pistol and still look good for the ladies while hunting foul monsters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyBPaXbp7Qg
3rd. 4-Bore Stopping rifle. At 16:17 in this video you will see a comparison between common modern ammo and a 4 bore shell.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDYtxxRU_cY&t=1064s
There are bigger guns than the 4 bore. 2 bore is bigger but...4 bore ammo is hard enough to get ahold of.
4th. Here is one of my favorites. The most powerfull revolver in the world.
Dirty Harry's 44 magnum belongs on the shelfs of toy stores when you compare it to this mighty beast.
500 S&W is merely a massproduced piece of junk in comparison.
I'm honored to present you the Pfeifer Zeliska 600 nitro express revolver. A handmade miracle.
http://www.guns.com/2012/02/17/the-pfeifer-zeliska-the-revolver-in-600-nitro-express/
Why is he wearing a helmet in the video? Because some people who hold 600 nitro guns incorrectly when firing get serious headinjuries because of the recoil.
The gun costs 17316 dollars and each cartridge costs 40 dollars.
The Giant 1859 28mm remington revolver is bigger but that one is....well...take a look at this.

....nobody evers dares trespass on that mans lawn.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9Km5KaeO7I
Not the oldest revolver as described in the video but of a respectable age nevertheless.

Although i hope to see some of these ancient works of art in action in the game i find myself far more fascinated by the various monsters that want to eat my character.
But the problem is that the silver has a much higher meltingpoint (Ca 961 Celsius or 1763 Fahrenheit).
In any case it's very weird.....i love weird stuff.
I once read a novel where they used blowguns filled with silver dust against werewolfs. The wolves would breath in the dust and burn their lungs from within. Weird enough? Or how about the garlic gun from Dresden Files? From book 6 irc.
Instead it was used to launch fireworks when people of note such as nobles wanted to make a flashy entrance.

But it was sometimes used to fire grenades. So if you want to kill everything around the corner and you're to clumsy to throw the grenade at a wall to bounce it towards the target you use this.
You use it and hope that i doesn't explode in your hands.
But this weapon is a disaster waiting to happen.
We've got a soft spot for WW2 era guns, any contenders? :D

Might i suggest one of the many C96 Mausers? As you know it was used in both WW1 and 2 and it's such a unique gun.
Mauser M712 Schnellfeuer.

If you want details on the many C96 versions i suggest you look at Forgotten Weapons on Youtube.

He's got looooads of videos showcasing old or downright ancient guns like that ornate breachload wheellock that was in my first post.
All that firepower in a large revolver. The video becomes really interresting about 1 minute in.
Then at 4:08 your eyes pop out of your head as the enormous steampunky LeMat revolver comes before the camera.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjdi48QakyE
More of LeMat's excellent taste in gun design madness.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ-uIMrzu-4
A more...moderatly sized LeMat revolver.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJhC3H0srQY
Are you guys drooling all over your keyboards by now? XD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StSyVLW3RB8
But to be quite frank i much prefer ancient flintlock revolver in post #3.
Next is a high capacity Walch Navy revolver with 12 shots but to be quite frank this revolver has a very low powder charge.
Even if you fire 2 chambers at practicly the same time it will still lack killing power.
Ian talks about a soldier who could not kill a farmers pig at point blank range with this thing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ew9xCtb0aU
Here is one i'm certain you dev's might like somewhat. I'll list some of the strenghts/weaknesses of the gun so you won't have to watch the entire video.
It had one specific goal when it was designed....To be powerfull enough to kill a horse in a single shot.
It was actually the most powerfull revolver till the 357 magnum was introduced in the 1950's because of it's massive powderload.
It had a few flaws including the tendency to explode due to users loading the bullet backwards or the poor quality metal of the time.
