Reviews a bit confusing.
Is the port actually good? I don't care one bit about controller support, which seems to be what all the bad reviews cry about.

Most of complaint about controller issues seem to be misleading. The real enemy was recent Steam update, and it disabled playing some games with controller unless we adjust some settings on Steam client.
However Romancing Saga 2 Steam version is also terrible. Game itself must be great as it used to be, but a lot of factors inferior to original ones on SNES(or SFC). I've posted a negative review, and I would do it even if there had been no controller problems around launching.

I see, that's unfortunate. :(

Honestly, mouse and keyboard works perfectly for this game.

The main problem is ultimately that it's a lazy hackjob, bane-bones port of a very old game being sold at modern game prices. Moreso glaring after the complaints they should have listened to after the terrible classic FF PC ports. Square's PC ports are never going to improve if people just bend over and hand them the money for this.

I've been playing the game with a controller after configuring the right Steam settings. I think it is a low effort port, but some of the descriptions in the reviews and certain forum posts are too negative and even exaggerated in my opinion.

There's nothing about this game (or this port) that is inferior to the original SNES/SFC version.

This is actually better than the FF ports in question, mostly because they kept the right pixel art for the sprites. I would prefer if they had more options, although I wouldn't use most of them, but I am not going to skip on an interesting game experience just to protest. The game works. I'll write a postiive review sooner or later.

I've been playing a lot and the game plays perfectly. The complaints are that they didn't try very hard -- for example there's a giant "D" button on the screen all the time that is there for people playing on mobile, so you can dash.

If you only care about the content of the game itself, and not what it "should have been" or how much effort you personally percieve that they put into the port, you will have absolutely no problems at all with this version of the game.

I honestly do think it was a pretty low-effort port, but that doesn't change the game itself, which is a ton of fun and works great. And I easily got over the "low-effort" stuff within like 5 minutes of playing. I don't even really notice the ugly mobile UI on the screen all the time anymore.

EDIT: Basically, it's not that the game was ported BADLY, it's just that it was ported simply so that you're playing the mobile game on your PC. And people wanted it changed more and didn't get that so they are mad.

I mean if they don't even remove the touch screen buttons from the game then that is the very definition of a bad port. Also from what I understand no proper options for PC which is further proof of my previous statement

25€ for this garbage is laughable

It costs only 7€ (5€ with discount) here, in Russia, good enough price. Does it really cost almost 4x in some other region?
