How do you drop weapons?
So in the Hollow area or whatever it is called I ended up pressing O and picking up a sword that was on the ground and now I'm stuck with it. Seriously, I can't put it down and it takes places of my whip, which is completely making me unable to play because its slow and it sucks. How in the world do you put the sword down? I'm talking with a PS4 controller because I can't remap anything and its on console.

The sword is part of a puzzle. There should be a statue that you can place the sword in right outside where the Catacombs checkpoint is. Otherwise you can't drop it.

So I'm literally stuck with it the entire game. That may be the worst oversight I've ever seen.

How are you stuck with it the entire game? You just have to go place it in the statue.

In fact, it's a very deliberate and intentional aspect of the game that you can actually progress through most of the areas while using the sword if you want to. Eventually you'll have to return it because you need to complete that puzzle to get to a boss, but it's entirely up to you when you do so.

the statue should be relativily close, to where you found it

Missing the point, I should not be forced to run around with a weapon that doesn't fit my style just because I pressed O when it came up on the screen. This is the first game I have ever come across that doesn't allow you to ditch something you picked up.

If they let you drop it at any point, you could end forgetting where it is/dropping it into an unretrievable location and then be unable to complete the puzzle, thus breaking the game because you wouldn't be able to reach the boss afterwards.

Not allowing you to drop it is good (and important) game design.

I spent all of 2 minutes with that sword after picking it up, killing an enemy or two, and putting it on the nearby statue to complete the puzzle.

YOU are missing the point. You're actually holding a giant key, even though it happens to be in the shape of a weapon. The "style" is not one of user-choice, there is only one, and that is place the key in the lock dammit!

Where are communication skills when you need them?

When I got that sword, I didn't like that it replaced the whip, but considering the sword key has been used in previous darksiders, I knew exactly what it was and because I had been shown the statues before finding the sword, it was really obvious how far I was going to go with the sword.

If you pay attention and move quicky, you hold the sword for maybe about 30 seconds each time you find one. If not, you might be stuck with it for a few minutes. If you are holding it much longer than that, you used a serpent hole to leave the dungeon and being stuck with the sword is your fault.

It doesn't last long and doesn't need to be dropped because you can use it correctly very quickly. Just suck it up, and deliver the sword/key as soon as possible so that it isn't holding you back.

They could have the option of dropping the sword to have it teleport back into place once you left the area or X amount of distance.

The puzzle might be easy to some, might only take "30 seconds" to complete, not having the choice is an oversight. Some players enjoy playing at thier own speed, might go back a few levels to kick some butt.

Also keep in mind some players are new to this game, best to be friendly and explain it's the dev's choice for not being able to drop a "Key Item".... yea that one was lame!

Anyway, this is just an opinion from an old fart,

Keep it clean :slimehappy:

there is also common sense which you lack. this game is a massive puzzle. and sword puzzles are easy to solve.

playing at their own speed?! what? you plan to stay stuck in the area permanently just because you play at the speed of refusing to solve a puzzle??

i just looked in an walktrough to make sure i remembered correctly,
the sword who was laying on the ground was litterally on the other side of the gate (which should have been opened at this point) from the statue, so it would have only taken a few steps to get away from it
here the walktrough: https://guides.gamepressure.com/darksiders-iii/guide.asp?ID=47595
in the second picture you can see the sword on the ground
so i think this is fair enough of the game for the first sword puzzle
