anyways, the way I finally got around the issue is by changing the desktop resolution to 1080p.
Was really looking forward to this game, but if I can't even navigate the menus, it's a huge let down.
If the game window is positioned so that part of it is off screen - simply use Alt-Enter to make it full screen. It's also like a quick solution for other problems.
If you can't tame the game so that it would respect the last used resolution / screen settings by using the in-game menus you can edit the config manually.
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Darksiders3\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini
FullscreenMode=1
LastConfirmedFullscreenMode=1
PreferredFullscreenMode=1
----------------------------------------------
Afaik, the game is going to revert to preferred each time you load it, so if those don't match - match them, solved the problem with the game disregarding last used settings for me.
Said file also contains resolution and other settings you might need to edit manually.
Also, while I'm at it, if anyone is still unaware, Engine.ini in the same directory. If you're tired of that blurry picture the game outputs, just add these lines there:
[/script/engine.renderersettings]
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=2
^^^ This amount can vary and takes fractions, 1 seems popular.
Why they left sharpening off by default and didn't include an option while it's so bloody easy I cannot understand for the life of me.
***In both cases the game must not be running while you're editing those files as they are gonna be overwritten when the game terminates***
where can you find this compatibility tab in the properties of the game? I'm on Windows 11 btw
go to the game file, `` ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Darksiders 3 ``, right click the darksiders3.exe, click `properties`, click `compatibility` tab, at the bottom there is a box `change high dpi settings`
